City of Phoenix shuts down Bible study, puts leader in jail for teaching

Eh that article is lacking details that makes me not necessarly believe his story right away.

Nope.

This sentence came directly from the white house, where Obama is slowly but surely working towards turning America into an Islamic state so we can have gay marriage....

Curses been found out! Obama and I are BFFs.

Could have sworn this was being ranted about in another thread, a 50 person 'Bible Study' in the back yard and not the first time...

I saw this article yesterday. It seems the guys patrons were blocking driveways of the neighbors along with other violations. Chances are had they been respectful none of this would have gone down. Seems this Pastor needs to get himself a church with a parking lot. I have no problem with the guy holding bible studies in his house or yard, but I have to say I wouldn't be happy if I couldn't put my car in my own driveway.

Then ticket the cars in your driveway. Put up no parking signs if its a problem on the street. But you really don't own the parking spots on the street in front of your house. That seems obvious enough.

This again?

It was a church that was in blatant violation of building codes. He called it a church. He told the government it was a church and collected tax benefits. He told the media it was a church. He had seating for like 90 people.

He wasn't arrested for hosting a bible study. Anyone who told you that is a liar. He was arrested for flagrantly and repeatedly refusing to comply with building codes. He did this for years.

The person was charged with zoning violations. He did not have the permits and the building did not meet code for hosting such events. At least that is what the local news stated.

He filed under church tax codes. There was like a 50+ page thread on this already. You in fact had posted in it, so you know it exists.

He has been receiving tax exemptions since 2008. Maricopa County Parcel Inquiry
The property is titled under his churches name. http://mcassessor.maricopa.gov/Asses...016-F&info=res

Here is a little more reading on the issue this neighborhood has with this man.

Jail time for this is absurd, I'd say. Fines and community service will suffice.

It's always a shock when a libertarian like myself comes up against building codes, zoning laws, and neighborhood/condominium associations and the like, but it's well within the rights of the state or city to enforce them, and, like it or not, they serve important functions, like keeping the freeking property values up and reducing traffic congestion and parking problems. :)

Also "not killing 50 people in a fire because your dumbass building was designed without considering emergency egress in mind"
