New Indiana gun law allows residents to shoot police

They must be joking in Indiana

“Indiana has become the first state to legally allow residents to shoot at police if they feel their property is being illegally breached by an officer.”

Good, **** 'em. They get a badge, and they think they're god, so hopefully this will put them in their place. A cop is no different than any other citizen.
I love the NSA. It's like having a secret fan-base you will never see, but they're there, watching everything you write and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that I may be some person's only form of unconstitutional entertainment one night.

I read about this...I just blurted out laughing...I was thinking about how many citizens were going to call 911 that there was a robbery in thier house in progress or a home invasion and the police come 50 minutes later and stay at the curb with a bullhorn yelling for permission to come onto their property....politicians have gone nuts in this country

there have been dozens of cases where the police have raided the wrong dwellings when they misread addresses on warrants. In one case, the police started breaking down a door late at night before announcing they were cops. The startled homeowner appeared with a weapon since there were numerous home invasion robberies at the time and was shot by the cops. It was about a 5 million dollar mistake the tax payers had to pay.

If some cop breaks into your home in the middle of the night without proper authority you should kill him if he threatens you

It has to be an illegal breach of property though. I see no issue here, if police are called to the scene, or if they have a legal right to enter then there is no property owner protection. This seems to be logical, if the police try a warrantless breach upon property by just rushing in and kicking the door down, or otherwise tries coercion then they are not legally protected in their actions, but are armed. Police through being armed during a illegal breach(the key phrase) are a direct threat so should have no more protection than any other intruder.

One word of caution, the property owner had better make DAMN sure they are within their rights and the police action isn't protected otherwise they face very serious charges. In La. it is legal BTW to resist an unlawful arrest using force, deadly force isn't directly codified though.

If the cop is entering your home and not within the boundaries in the law. Then they are trespassing and like any other trespasser you can shoot them.

I remember a story of a ninety something year old lady with severe impediments was shot dead a few years back because the police did a "no-knock" breach of her property, I don't remember all the details but the police just kicked in, she was startled, grabbed her gun, and they shot.
