If you took a poll...a real poll of a huge sampling of adults and asked who do you have more respect for as a profession overall...Police Officers or Lawyers..Im of the opinion Police Officers would win handily.

And what about the good cop that gets a wrong house number from the dispatcher?

Identify immediately, assess the situation, diffuse, listen, live.

I agree when they break the law they should pay the price...but you like to make it sound like its an overwhelming amount of police...and you dont seem to ever mention scum lawyers which are abundant, should they go to jail too ?? how about scum doctors and scum accountants? How about saying everyone thats dirty and breaks the law should go to jail...heh..

I am sure that is true-ask about prosecutors though and I expect you'd get a different result than say criminal defense attorneys or plaintiff's attorneys. I don't see your point since I am not attacking the police in general, I am merely supporting a law that protects honest people victimized by corrupt or negligent cops

this has nothing to do with lawyers or most cops. I wish there were a lot less lawyers-half the civil suits I see are BS-at least-filed by too many lawyers chasing too few legitimate claims

Oh, I've seen TD blister the bad lawyers within the BAR a few times. Criminals and sheisters should pay, period.

One thing I noticed when I came back to my hometown is that the cop cars here no longer have the decals saying "To Serve and Protect", because that's not what they're about. They're all for violating every portion of the Bill of Rights that they possibly can by tear gassing protestors the mayor doesn't like, enforcing gun laws that infringe on our 2nd amendment rights. They illegally search and seize property when the "suspect" is of weak enough character to be intimidated by a badge and so on. They oppress the People of the United States, and stand for everything we fought against to become a nation.

Authority is not granted, it is a contract between the populace, and those in positions of authority. If those in positions of authority abuse their power, the populace is well within their rights to not only reject, but oust the offending party, since the offending party has breached their end of the bargain. When you act like the right hand of tyranny against the citizens of the United States, you have breached that contract, and reap every consequence you have coming, and that's what this law is.
By the populace you mean yourself and other like-minded individuals? After all, there would be no need to oust if elections could solve these problems for you? I wonder why the minority are always so loud in their opinion that they speak for the whole, personally I believe its because they know they truly don't speak for everyone.

This is all very nice rhetoric, but its just a perspective. Even you admit that from a pragmatic and realistic perspective that police are different than normal citizens, hell you listed yourself several reasons why in your opinion. Heck you dismiss the high speed cash exactly not by citing law, but by citing that its stupid and reckless in your opinion, not something we are arguing.

All I am saying, is that under the current laws police have special privileges that ordinary citizens do not have. You may not agree with these laws or what police do, but these laws do exist which give police special authorities and powers where ordinary citizens do not have them, that's all I'm saying.
