Swi as hot pry suit is bull **** because you don't know what happen after I got home I could have been doing minute shots since you last saw me.
Have you been drinking?

What is a "pry suit"? Why is it hot? Are they always hot? What is a "swi"? Why is a swi as hot as a pry suit? Why are both of these things together, the swi and the pry suit, which are both hot, bull****?

What is a "minute shot"? Is that a mixed drink of some kind?

I support this, but damn, there will be problems arising...

right you are but the citizen who is protecting their property is also legally protected if they are acting in good faith.
You have to positively identify your target before pulling the trigger in any situation (we call it P.I.D.). The instant you see a badge, you do not have PID. When the cop announces himself, you do not have PID.

Do yourself a favor and make sure you know where your friends stand on this before inviting them over, otherwise, should you pull a gun on a cop, they may draw on you.

They must be joking in Indiana

“Indiana has become the first state to legally allow residents to shoot at police if they feel their property is being illegally breached by an officer.”

This law is a good thing. If a cop is breaking into your property he or she should be treated just any other burglar or home invader. Criminals also pose as cops. I think because of this law it will stop no knock raids because I am sure no police officer wants to risk busting in on a home, getting shot and no legal punishment for the individual who shot them.Cops should knock on a door, present their ID and warrant detailing what they can and can't search before coming in. I really don't give a rats ass if this gives someone enough time to flush drugs down the toilet, these types of crimes don't warrant fully armed police raiding a home.If its a hostage situation, police standoff or similar situation the police are already going to make themselves known.Because they don't want to bust in and the suspect shoots the hostages. If they are going to arrest gang members then they can't leave the house without the cops noticing.

Preventing one citizen from endangerment/death the bill will have served it's purpose.

Botched Paramilitary Police Raids

Some really good information at that link. Just the tip of all the issues with police acting 'above their pay grade' and disregarding the law.

I support the new law mentioned in the OP.

Why does this need to be put into law? Are cops just randomly breaking into people's houses or something? I find it ridiculous that we wasted money trying to codify every possible scenario no matter how rare its occurrence may be. Sure, people should have the right to defend themselves against unlawful entries even by police, however how often does that happen that a law needs to be made in order to make sure legal protections are given to citizens in such cases? It would seem that common sense from a judge would be enough to assess whether a citizen acted with a demeanour that wasn't malum in se.

There have been a number of cases recently where the wrong address was on the search warrant. As a result the SWAT team broke into the wrong house at 5:00 AM. In some of these cases, innocent people have been killed.

It's ok to shoot at a cop.
Good luck.

And if you make it legal to shoot a cop in this case far more innocent people will be killed.

this "PID" goes both ways the cop shouldn't knock down the door unless he is positive about it being the right door. you seem to be under the ussumption these cops i'm pulling a gun on are there legally, i'm not.

Legally, or otherwise,if you shoot police officer you better plan on spending the rest of your life in fairy tale land because you will not like it here.

Shunning them is fine, but I prefer to understand the story, and the why before casting ignorant blanket statements on anyone.

Sure theres been mistakes...I was on a raid where we were sent to the wrong address...thankfully no one got hurt and we didnt even bust down the door just as we were getting into position to hammer it...it opens and theres a teenage girl with her mouth open to the floor frozen..
The few mistakes that are made are no reason to assure the cops arent going to respond to you calling for help, with a asinine law like that.

No asinine cops, no asinine law. There is "0" , nada, absolutely no room for mistake when you are kicking down someone's front door.

I noted merely that if a cop breaks into your home due to mistake, stupidity or malice and threatens you with death, you ought to kill him and take your chances in court rather than get shot to death. If the cops had the wrong house or a bad warrant, its gonna be hard for the cops to prosecute someone who shoots someone breaking into their home in the middle of the night

Interesting.
