so now we now see that NO diversity of opinion is allowed in the GOP.

you either goosestep & salute like everyone else, or you will be chastised & shunned.

this is why America is going to Hell.

It’s not that stimulus is bad it’s how it’s implemented. The Bush stimulus put money in the “99’s” hands. Per your link:

That package provided tax cuts of up to $600 for individuals or $1,200 for married couples, plus an additional $300 per child.

President Obama’s stimulus went LARGELY to the 1%...

But once gross domestic product started its upturn in the summer of 2009, it was the richest who enjoyed most of the improvement, 93 percent of it, in fact.

Daily Kos: The 1% collects 93% of the 'recovery'

It is this that prevents the bipartisanship you desire.

Man..it's almost like a minature example of how Republicans react to criticizism from within their ranks. First the branding of RINO then the personal attacks to discredit the individual!

Im going to predict that after this round of elections..Rino will be a badge of honor...and teaparty far right will be out in the cold...
Its already started...the realization of what the teaparty is all about...of the rich for the rich and a tool to buy elections

It does seem cyclical but I think the time frame is a little longer.

Having said that alot of the cause of this attitude is because of the way the democrat super majority rammed through obamacare without any compromise...which cost them dearly. Americans do not like anything rammed down their throat...and eventually they will reject the teaparty...actually that rejection has already started
LOL The ENTIRE HC bill was a Republican idea from the 90's including the mandate. McConnel said from the start that the GOP's only goal was to make Obama a 1 term President.

Actually, it's the opposite. Lugar in Indiana just lost his primary to the tea party member. There are others across the country planned. The tea party is going to be around for quite a while ... whether or not Republicans embrace them or not (I'm guessing not - in the short term) is yet to be seen. But they continue to gain ground politically.
“I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on what’s being proposed here, he’d agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute.” - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

Well that's a pretty silly statement. Saying that the wealthy have done the best during the recovery isn't the same thing as saying that the stimulus went to the wealthy. The truth is that the wealthy have hoovered up most of the gains for the last 30 years.

Both Bush and Obama did payroll tax cuts. The difference was that Bush sent out lump-sum checks while Obama doled out the tax cuts in weekly paychecks. Bush's approach is better for winning brownie points ("hey look at this big check!") but is inferior for stimulating the economy as people are more likely to stash a lump sum in savings or use it to pay down debt.

"The necessaries of life occasion the great expense of the poor. They find it difficult to get food, and the greater part of their little revenue is spent in getting it. The luxuries and vanities of life occasion the principal expense of the rich, and a magnificent house embellishes and sets off to the best advantage all the other luxuries and vanities which they possess. ... It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion."
