Pizza parlor’s giveaway sparks heated debate

Chicago style pizza is the best!

No surprise there. Of course libertarians are going to like deep dish. They love all the cheese stuck inside the bread.

I'm not opposed to liberals laughing. I laugh at them daily.... communication is only the core of community if the communities communicate. Too often, pockets of communities only communicate within their own... let me reiterate: As a conservative, the OP sounds fine to me - it's very American, very capitalist, and I could care less.

There's more to conservatism than capitalism.

Free markets don't exist without due process protecting rights to privacy.

When you dishonor tradition, you corrode due process.

Are you familiar with postmodernism? Communities can't exist without communication. Literally, you need common unity expressed through semantic values.

Pizza parlor
So conservatives have a problem with this?
Really? I thought conservatives were all for a free market and allowing a business owner to run his/her business as they wish?
Is this a problem?
What if a company that sells beer would give away free beer if you ordered in German? Would that be an issue?
Free Chinese food if you ordered in Chinese?
Free cheese is you order in French?
Is this the kind of crap that makes politicians look like fools?
I'm just lost as to why this pizza place is getting flack over this.
On the flip side - it's fantastic advertising and marketing.
Thoughts?
I'd use Google Tranlsate and get to munching.

How hard can it be to ask for a pizza in Spanish?
I do business with all sots of people. I honestly don't have the time to give a crap about the politics, religion, or w/e else about the guy who sells me pizzas. I am just concerned about the pizza.

I mean if I found out that the guy was running a pre-school prostitute ring or selling dope while disguised as a nun, I'd turn him in. w/e. But I don't care if the guy wants to build a fence to keep out the Russians and wants to elect Sasquatch to the US senate. If the pizza's good pizza, that's my main concern when purchasing pizza.

You cannot turn Chicago Style Pizza into a political talking point. It is above that and offers nothing but cheesy goodness to fill your heart with joy.

What's your position on gay marriage?

Are you suggesting that there is no such thing as the pizza vote in Chicago?

Pizza tastes better.

I agree, but only if its Italian.

Northern Europeans are spoiled brats with no sense of passion at all. They get awkward whenever you try to do something creative.

I wonder what percentage of their clientele already order pizza in spanish?

Following is a comment by a self-admitted Hispanic socialist on Pizza Patrón. Some of you "conservatives" should read it:

Daktoria, I can testify Pizza Patron is not good tasting pizza. Even though I can order the pizza in Spanish, I don't like their pizza. Lol.

The reason why so many businesses in the USA do business in Spanish is because they need the Spanish-speakers dollars. It is about dollars and profits Daktoria.

I speak Spanish all the time. To my sons, (my older son did not speak it til he came to live with us at age eight and half). Now he speaks it. My husband, and my family. I speak it in the street, and at home and at work, and at school, and in stores, in parking lots. I have my bank account in Spanish (the statements), I have my checkbook in Spanish and in English. The Credit Union sells checkbooks in Spanish and in English. I withdraw cash from the ATM in Spanish. I go down boulevards with billboards in Spanish. Three blocks from my house they have live theater plays in Spanish. I got my Spanish tv in Spanish from Directv. I got my library books in Spanish. They even have Central Library baby storybook hour in Spanish. Send my kid to a school that teaches Spanish. In third grade it was all subjects taught in Spanish. Want some more? I can tell you some more.

It is not because I want to convert the USA to Spanish. It is about selling things to Latinos in Spanish so the capitalists in the USA can profit from 15% more of the people they need to sell to. They won't let such a little thing like not speaking the language of the customer get in the way. Here the Vietnamese community has signs for their beauty salons, nail salons, restaurants, supermarkets, travel agencies, etc. in Spanish and Vietnamese. It is about business. And their business is not about English only people. They sell to who are the common folks in their city. Statistically speaking over 60% of public school students in this major metro city are Latin kids. Most are either bilingual or know some Spanish. That is a big group. Why are they here? Apparently the city is employing hundreds of thousands of Spanish speaking Latino adults with kids. That is why they are here. No jobs? No people speaking Spanish.

Would you come up to me and tell me to speak English only? I know English Dak. The ones who assume I don't are the paranoid people who listen to me speak Spanish and assume people are monolingual and monocultural. There is more to life than stereotypes of what you think an ethnic group is about. And it is not about some pidgeon hole stereotype.

It is a brave new world out here Dak.

Go to Miami and hear the complaints from the non Spanish-speaking Miamians about not finding jobs unless they speak Spanish. They are pissed off! but hey....it is a numbers game. If you are not following the crowd out there you are not being flexible....you don't get the job. Smart people do what is necessary to find a job. If that means being bilingual like many in Quebec must be....that is what they do.

The arrogance here is astonishing. It's as if she has no respect for how math is a universal language, and instead, claims that smart people apply variety, not discipline.

If you're a "conservative" and think business is the end all to be all, you really need to think again.

Also, for those of you who think marketing is capitalism, you really need to learn a thing or two about finance.

I'd open a pizza place and give away free pizzas to fat people that order in Huttese.

They have the right to run this sort of promotion. I also have the right to make sure that I never step foot in any of their 104 nation-wide franchises. This is the United States of America, we should be ordering things in American English, no other language. That's my take on it, anyway.

So if I went to America I'd have to ask someone to order for me? :(

Actually, one has nothing to do with the other.

Free markets don't exist without due process protecting rights to privacy.
And if a frog had wings, it wouldn't bump it's ass a hoppin'.

When you dishonor tradition, you corrode due process.
I never claimed Bushido or swore a Samurai code to a fiefdom.

Are you familiar with postmodernism?
If I say no, will you promise not to bother explaining?

To reiterate: As a conservative, the OP sounds fine to me - it's very American, very capitalist, and I could care less. I'll take mine with pepperoni, mushrooms and meatballs.

Keep chowin down, meatlover. The more you order, the more exotic it's gunna get.

You don't happen to think gay rights are good for business too by any chance, do you?

Are you suggesting we should order pizza in Math?

What? Why would gay rights affect pizza sales?

Pizza...suuuurious bidness.

I don't eat Pizza... not even for free.... and I don't care what a pizza shop does for it's marketing, or what language they do it in.

Are you suggesting we should order pizza in Math?

Are you suggesting you never paid for what you ordered?

What? Why would gay rights affect pizza sales?

...because they're stuck on buying cannolis instead. They don't understand you have dessert after you sit down for a meal.

You are a very strange person.

Pizza is now exotic? Kewl.....

If gay rights can somehow increase business... sure. How about this... "Order a pizza like a flaming queen, get a free topping and a 2 liter soda free Thursdays". Sounds like a winner... and I'm all for it. Gay's eat pizza too right? :lamo
