Über Rich Renouncing U.S Citizenship as IRS Cracks Down on Tax Evaders [W:209]

I thought these people were supposed to be role models for the rest of us. Choosing greed over patriotism like this makes for a pretty bad one. The message here is "I love obscene amounts of money more than I love my country." I guess we've seen their true colors now.

Or the message could be, "How can I love a country that is trying to steal more and more of my money every year...and will certainly succeed soon."

You seem to think people have a duty to be soaked by parasitic politicians. Your first duty is to yourself and your family, not ingrates and scum sucking politicians who use your wealth to buy the votes of people who feel as you do.

Maybe if all the dependents would be patriotic and start paying their own way rather than sitting back on their asses demanding others pay for them
 
ORRRRR you should be grateful enough Americans are not that selfish and see duty to the greater good is what Jesus would have done.

Not saying a soldier, firefighter, cop, nurse, teacher, or EMT is the second coming, but thank Gawd it was more than a 'life choice' for them to step up for those who are at home stacking cheese and spitting at the world.

do the rich have an unlimited duty to pay more and more taxes just because the majority use their voting power to soak the minority who already pay the most taxes?

anyone who wants more government than they can afford to pay for is by definition selfish. Its far more selfish to impose costs on others than it is for me to not want to pay for what you want

sanctioning people who choose to renounce citizenship is nothing to be patriotic about.
US treatment of expats ( those whom do not renounce citizenship) is nothing to be proud of for Americans.... and in many cases, renouncing citizenship is the only route to go.
 
One description comes to mind for the uber-rich that are pulling those kind of tactics...they are chhickken ****tts! Gotta love the way that was automatically edited.

maybe if you pay the same amount of taxes as the rich then you might have some credibility. if you don't then you have no valid comment.

People driving expensive cars were more likely than other motorists to cut off drivers and pedestrians at a four-way-stop intersection in the San Francisco Bay Area, UC Berkeley researchers observed. Those findings led to a series of experiments that revealed that people of higher socioeconomic status were also more likely to cheat to win a prize, take candy from children and say they would pocket extra change handed to them in error rather than give it back....

It seems to back up this study as well...

Apparently, the wealthy really do think they're priviledged and don't have to abide by social norms or obey the laws. If truth be told, people don't hate the wealthy because they're rich, they hate them because they're assholes.

that is generally true with the power hungry rich-the ones that vote for big government and desire more control over other people.

Apparently, you comments indicate you have little actual knowledge of how taxation works and that it is NOT something that is applied on a voluntary individual basis.

Every American citizen has the right to comment and make their voice heard about national tax policy. How much a person pays in tax has not a damn thing to do with it. We even have part of the US Constitution which says that.

You really need to educated yourself Turtle on our system of government and the role of every citizen in it and what their rights are.

No, Turtle, I just believe no-one should have right to get out of their taxes. They have no excuse. I've always paid my taxes in full, and they should pay theirs.

Why would you need any of these wealthy folks as role models? My folks were my roles models. They told me to work hard an make something of myself. I wasn't waiting for a Mellon, Rockafeller, et al, to give me a hand out or up.


This guy choose taking his money and going to another country that doesn't tax the rich into oblivion. Has nothing to do with being a patriot. I just wonder how many more are gonna take a hike because of this "fair share" bologna being spread by the current administration.

people are always required, upon renouncing, to provide proof they have paid their taxes and settle their account with the IRS.

the exit taxes we have in effect now are above and beyond any taxes due....
if a rich guy renounces, and keeps ownership of a house he has here in the states.. he is requires to pay capital gains tax on that house... even though he did not sell it, nor had plans to sell it... this counts for all of his assets that are susceptible to capital gains taxes if they were to be sold.. the US government pretends you sell all of your assets and taxes you on the gains.
those are not taxes due... there are no sales or gains, yet the taxes are imposed nonetheless.

if they have income, they are taxed an amount based on that income for the next 10 years following renouncement.... regardless if they still have that income coming in or not... and you do not get to deduct anything from that levied amount... 5 kids?.. tough.. no deductions for you.

even if your income is from the country you chose to move to and gain citizenship... you will still be taxed on that income in the US.

not even murderers or rapists are treated this way by the federal government

this stuff goes way beyond paying your due taxes.... it ventures far into the realm of punishing people for leaving the US... and it all requires the government to pretend things happen that didn't happen ( the selling of assets, the future income taxes).. it requires the US federal government to lie.
...and people support it still.... amazing.


oh, and if you want to come back into the country to challenge anything, in a court of law, that the federal government throws at you.... bam.. deportation.. you aren't allowed back in at all..forever.
