Corporations merely pass the taxes on to the consumer, and it is included in the cost of the items sold. As far as what they contribute: that's negotiable. Many are not providing communities with a tax base due to subsidies, loopholes, or evasion. Employment is often outsourced. And then there are the externalities that no one wants to discuss. My alternative is to eliminate corporate personhood and tax everyone the same. But that'll never happen. Whatever.
I find it funny that so many people whine that the rich aren't paying enough or that corporations need to pay more (and then whine when a corporation moves off-shore) yet they have no problem with almost half the voters not paying income tax and 3/4 voters are net tax consumers

I worry more about having a nation that contains many people, even agents of the state such as yourself, the display open animosity and belligerence towards people whose only "crime" is to have financial security and accumulated wealth.

poor people are not my enemy.. the middle class is not my enemy.... but sure as hell, hate pimps like yourself make it crystal clear that I am their enemy.. over nothing more than financial success.

Post of the month. great comment. I have never been "against" the poor. I despise those who use them as pawns to gain power by taking the wealth of others to buy votes

Or we make independence far too difficult. Our health care system, for example.

I'm not whining about anything. I'm simply offering solutions. But everything will continue to skip along as it always has. Until it doesn't.

Like I said, everyone should be paying the SAME percentage of their income. EVERYONE.

And what will then happen when the rich truly expose themselves as the enemy of the common man and even those who now lie to them telling it both tastes good and smells wonderful are not longer willing to participate in the charade? What happens when the veil is removed and we see the corroded cancer of disease that has corrupted the wealthy in their worship of Mammon above all else including their fellow humans? What happens when the rich follow your advice and declare war on the common man and their own servants decide that enough is enough and tonight is their last night in servitude. Do you really want to find out?

I dearly hope not ---- for your sake my friend.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

this board is entertainment hay market and watching ninnies who take this place too seriously is extremely amusing. Nothing you say there is going to make the USA get any closer to the socialist paradise you hope for and nothing I say is going to help America get over its disease caused by the creeping crud of dependocrat malaise
