It’s a little reported anecdote, but in 1981 presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney was arrested for disorderly conduct. The issue of Romney’s arrest first came to light during his 1994 Senate run against incumbent Senator Ted Kennedy, appearing at an unfortunate time while Romney was running ads talking to police officers with sirens in the background, promising to be tough on crime

I gotta be honest. I like this side of Mitt Romney, and his taking an officer, who was clearly abusing his power, down a notch. What in the world happened to that part of Mitt? I would like to see that side of him come out again.

Watch out, we've got a Mormom badass over here.

The whole idea of Mitt Romney being "disorderly" is comical. He doesn't even have a single hair that's out of order!

With my best Daffy Duck impersonation - That'tttthhh dethpicable. LOL.

I think the thing I like most about Romney is that even when he has what would be regular every American stories, he still comes off as a rich spoiled cat. Nothing wrong with it but it´s like Richie Rich running for president. It´s funny, because all the jokes are class based. I mean how many Americans can say they´ve been arrested for disorderly conduct relating to not being able to park their boat?

Nice.....

Bah....who hasn't been arrested for disorderly conduct at least once?

Almost makes me considering changing my vote to Romney.

How absurd! The officer was wrong - charges were dropped.

Several days later, Romney appeared in Natick District Court and threatened to sue the arresting office for a false arrest. The charges were dropped and sealed at Romney’s request.

"He did not have the right to arrest me because I was not a disorderly person. This was an obvious case of false arrest," Romney said. "The officer obviously agreed because he agreed to dropping the case."

You know - in 1981 I was ****ting in diapers :)

Now a liberal lawyer like Obama would have filed a 5 million dollar 42 USC sec. 1983 civil rights suit against that cop (and would have won).

Thank you Junior for making me feel old.

:D in 1981 I wasn't even born yet - and I'm a father multiple times over by now ;)

but it's not terribly surprising - Romney has a couple of interesting anecdotes like this in his past; including getting into fights with rugby players while serving as a missionary in France; and pulling a couple of boatwrecked families out of the water.

Romney is quite the badass if i do say so myself. Quite the OWS spirit in him. He gots my vote!

The link in the OP didn't work for me (brought up an ad, yuck), so I googled it, and found it here. It seems he was in trouble one other time, back in '66 for leading a demonstration in support of the draft!

In support of the draft?!? He must have been about 20 or so at the time, prime draft bait.

"In 1966, Romney and some other students held a protest on campus — not in opposition to the Vietnam War, but in support of the draft," Kyle Huwa wrote for the Stanford Review. "Though they’re probably being used against him today, the photos … show a conservative willing to go against the mainstream in an era when such a position was very unpopular, an admirable act in my mind."
