Texas -- Rocker and controversial political activist Ted Nugent is known for his fiery remarks. And he lived up to his reputation in an interview with "CBS This Morning," taking strong exception to an observation that he's not a moderate.Nugent made headlines three weeks ago at a National Rifle Association convention in St. Louis when he said that, "If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year. ... We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November. Any questions?"When the speech went viral, some critics called the comments a threat against President Obama. A few days later, Secret Service agents paid Nugent a visit, which Nugent says went well.Mitt Romney sought and got Nugent's endorsement - and Nugent says he heard from the Romney campaign after his NRA speech and that they "expressed support.""I got the sensation and not from Mitt himself, or Mrs. Romney, 'Stay on course, Ted.' Freedom of speech is a beautiful thing," Nugent said.Responding to some of Nugent's latest comments, the Romney campaign has publicly said that "divisive language is offensive and inappropriate, no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from. Mitt Romney believes everyone needs to be civil."

politically speaking, he is rather moderate overall... not on guns.. and not in his rhetoric, but in his overall political positions .

Compared to Hitler, he's moderate.

Ted is a kinda guy, you can shoot, the **** with....

Talking about women, guitars, amps, other guitarists/bands, songs, politics, etc, etc over a couple of beers would be cool

he doesn't consume any alcohol.

as for his "moderate" status, i don't see it. what's the evidence that he's a moderate?

The frightening thing is that, compared to some of the people on here, he might actually be a moderate in their eyes.

A living, breathing, example of rock and roll mediocrity. He's a neanderthal and his personal history is appalling.

My dad just had a kidney stone. Strangely, he never mentioned Obama...

What kind of gun do you need to shoot ****?
Smaller caliber, you go with anything bigger than a .35 the **** will hit the fan, and the fans, and pretty much everything within the splatter radius. Yuck.

Nugent is at best a hemorrhoid on the ass of the body politic in America. He is at worst just another clown in the right wing circus.

Are you closed minded, dude?

The point is ...There are no barriers in music

political hyperpartisanship 101... if you don't agree with a person politics, they are to be dehumanized and demonized on all fronts.

Actually, Nugent plays a wicked guitar, and at one point, during the 1970's, he reigned as the number one guitar player in the world for a short time. His songs? Pretty lame, for the most part, except for Stranglehold, which was a great song.

yeah, he has lots of lame songs... and quite a few good ones... and a couple of great ones..... which is about par for a loooong rock and roll career.

I worked security for a concert of his in Austin back in 94' ( Sneakers, on n Lamar.. now it's a mexican nightclub)... he played a 35 minute rendition of Stanglehold... it was incredible... truly incredible.....
Motorhead opened for him.. and Lemmy is a sweaty nasty stinky pig. ... while he was doing Ace of Spades, I kept thinking " Secret.. strong enough for a man.. but not strong enough for Lemmy"

I do like "Cat Scratch Fever," but anybody who says Nuge ever reigned over Jimmy Page....well, we're gonna have words, bro.

It would be a very very ignorant conversation when it comes to politics... But i wouldnt mind the free beer

This. Excellent guitarist. Influential to many other guitarists. If you don't like his kind of music to begin with fair enough. Not everybody likes hard rock. But I sense that some don't like his music because of him and his politics... which makes those people no less "tools" themselves.

Anyway, back to the OP... I was amused by this quote from the OP's link...
I'm an extremely loving, passionate man, and people who investigate me honestly, without the baggage of political correctness, ascertain the conclusion that I'm a damned nice guy.

To be fair, I have never met the guy in person. But my in-laws live in Michigan, and they have friends that do know Ted quite well. They pretty much all tell my in-laws that, up close and personal, Ted is an asshat of the highest order.

Third-hand info, but it fits with other reports I've heard about him over the years.

I do believe he is sincere in his beliefs, and I believe that he is pretty much always honest, and I do admire that. Sincerity and honesty is way too UNcommon in today's world. I don't disagree with everything he says, but he is too extreme for me, in an overall sense. He may be kidding himself, but he's not lying to me, if that makes sense.
