Did he use the really fat crayons or has he graduated to the thinner ones by this point?

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.... John Rogers

Both have their places in rock and made quite a bit of money doing it, they also happened to hit the right sound at the right time. The 70s were about loud, sloppy, and experimental playing whereas the 80s were about polish, and let's not kid ourselves.....Springsteen and Mellencamp are very polished.
Yeah I guess I didn't word that quite right.
However you nailed it right enough.
Bottom line these guys went into music with a plan give the people what they want they come back again and again .
I've still got DVD'S of Mellencamp and Springsteen.
But most of my dvds are John Lee Hooker, Ray Charles, B.B. King, KO KO Taylor , Lightening Hopkins stuff like that the blues.
I have some Rock but mostly Blues.

Well to us Music may be about entertainment but to the people in music it's about business.

one doesn't have to like his music to spot his talent.. and he is talented, uber talented with his guitar ( his vocals , for the last decade or so, are nothing like they once were, but meh, he's 60.. it's understandable)

Ted is the Ron Jeremy of rock and Roll... he ain't got the biggest or the very best, but he's the hardest working mofo around and has been for over 40 years... and he brings lots of game when he come to town
he's played arenas, stadiums, and small intimate clubs... rodeos, and NFL games, county fairs and huge mega concerts.... the dude has done it all, and is still doing it all 40 years later, at 60 years old.
as Supa pointed out, he has one of the greatest tunes from the 70 ( Stranglehold, 1975) that is still relevant and extremely popular to this very day .... oth3r great tunes include cat Scratch fever, Just what the doctor ordered, Stormtroopin; Wango Tango,Great White Buffalo, Baby please don't go ( cover), Fred Bear, Little miss dangerous... and over a hundred more i'm not even mentioning.

yes, he's brash, often stupid, in your face, and ridiculous in his conservative political rants and raves... and that, not his music, is why people here dismiss his talents and accomplishments, and for no other reason.... you have to close your mind and completely and utterly deny reality to diminish his musical talent.... but taht's normally what partisan politics does to a person, so it's almost understandable.

i'm not gonna defend his antics or his politics ( I only agree with him on 2nd amendment issues)...that's silly to do and it's perfectly acceptable not to agree with him on that basis.... but damn, I'll defend his musical talents til the cows come home.
I can not nor would I attempt to speak for the rest of the posters on this thread, but in my humble opinion.

Ted Nugent without the politics is a no talent halfass wanta be musician.
A good musician don't need to search for the spotlight to be recognized they already are if their music is good.
Ted Nugent without the music is just another. loudmouth ranting and playing the blame game shuffle and the not my fault dance.
It's easy to make statements answering questions well?

When all sides of politics are attacked for mistakes made then perhaps something will get done.

I don't tend to make competitions of the bands I like... I like them, or I don't.. I like all the bands you listed, and I like Ted too( and people give a damn about him too).....i'm not the one turning this into a dick measuring contest between musicians, that would be you.

I happen to think he's a rock and roll legend... many many people do... you obviously don't.
Didn't the Dixie Chicks lose sales because of a political statement they made?
Not a big fan of country music but just curious, seem I read something about that somewhere?

Somebody needs to tell the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that they are missing the 'legendary' Ted Nugent.

On the other hand, if you read the criteria for induction, maybe they know what they're doing.

Induction Process | The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum

Look at all these inductees and still no pisspants. Clapton, who one poster insisted, was an inferior guitarist to Nugent, had been inducted 3 - count 'em - three times.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Inductees
the RRHOF list of inductees is far shorter than the list of "should be in, but is not" list... they are missing a whole bunch of legends.

As much as I respect Nugent's politics and charitable contributions, I never allow ideology to interfere with my enjoyment of artistry. Ted Nugent wishes he had the guitar skills of Eric Clapton. It's not even remotely close. Clapton ranks as one of the greatest of all-time. Among professional musicians, Nugent is at best an average guitarist.

This guy is such a ****ing tool. I dont think he knows the meaning of "moderate", doing charity is not conservative, liberal, or moderate.... Charity does not have a political stance. This guy is a ****ing tool
Those who identify themselves as religious tend to donate to charity more generously than those who practice a secular lifestyle. Religious people also tend to overlap more with conservatives than liberals. Consequently, it's more likely than not that a Republican is charitable than a Democrat.

Yeah, those stupid people in the rock and roll world - what business do they have deciding who should be members? How could they leave out a frickin' legend like Pisspants Nugent?

they leave out a whole host of people and bands that are deserving, but I don't expect you to understand that, so it's all good.
