Before Gov. Chris Christie headed to Wisconsin Tuesday to help Gov. Scott Walker succeed in the upcoming recall election there, New Jersey State Sen. Barbara Buono offered a dark snapshot of the employment picture in the Badger State.
In a news release issued Monday, Buono, a Democrat representing part of Middlesex County, offered this statistic: "Wisconsin lost more jobs over the past 12 months than any other state."....POLITIFACT: STATEMENT TRUE

GOOD JOB GOV Hate labor Walker....your doing a great job for Wisconsins Rich and Corporations WHO YOU GAVE TAX CUTS with the money you took off of PUBLIC WORKERS.....I just love the teaparty...

A lot of uncertainty in the state due to recalls and the fact that Walker has only been governor one year would certainly contribute to the job statistics. Rather then just saying "Walker" I would rather see some real analysis as to why the jobs numbers in WI are what they are.

Re: With Christie to campaign for Walker, a state senator claimed Wisconsin led natio

I just read a little bit more on the job losses in WI. Apparently, most of the job losses were in the public sector. However, their unemployment rate still decreased by a decent amount and new business starts have increased. Once everything shakes out due to public sector reductions, I would expect hiring numbers to increase. Seems like these are primarily changes due to the prior administration causing bloat in the government that is now being dealt with.

Walker is a fail...just like Kashich in Ohio...he attacked public workers who are middle class workers and gave tax cut to the richest in wisc and corporations...that is reverse robin hood in its purest form and all he accomplished is lose jobs whether they be public or private and give the rich a tax cut...that is the mantra of the koch brothers teaparty...and he deserves all the recall and payback he can get.

The latest poll shows he is up one percent of unlikely voters over his next closest opponent - and that without him having spent much of his record donation haul. So, I would't really count the recall chickens before they hatch - there is a very real possiblity (probability even) that it will not occur.

Anyway, Walker deserves a term before trying to determine the overall results of his policies - no one can tell after just one year. I actually said the same about Obama - but now that it's been three years, I feel it's been long enough. After Walker wins the recall and has been in office a bit, i'd be more than happy to re-examine my position. The only thing you can be certain of, is that his policy to shrink government has worked, the state's tax revenues have increased and the 3.x billion deficit was settled - none of those things, IMO, are bad.

University of Wisconsin professor of economics Andrew Reschovsky said while the losses in the public sector are consistent with the Walker administration’s policies, the losses in the private sector are more of a mystery.

“I wish I could say I know what is causing the private sector job losses,” Reschovsky said. “The evidence suggests that there is nothing that Walker’s administration is doing specifically to cause a slow in growth.”

Reschovsky said one of the reasons the state could be lagging behind other states is because of the diverse nature of the state’s economy. He said the state brings in a lot of business from Europe, which is currently undergoing a financial crisis of its own.

An important thing to keep in mind, Reschovsky said, is there is only so much that can be done at the state level to encourage job growth and that politicians are likely to receive credit or criticism for changes they do not have complete control over.
Beyond just agreeing with my opinion, it provides more of an explanation then many on the left, who just want to scream about "Walker".

The unemployment rate when Walker took office was 9.2% and it is now 6.8% and better news yet, CEO Magazine ranks Wisconsin number 24 now up from 41 as a place to do business. What a country we live in where liberals and unions want to kick out a Governor that reduced unemployment by 2.4% taking it below the national rate, balanced the budget, and improved its status in attracting business but those same unions want to give the President four more years for having higher unemployment than when he took office, fewer people employed, more discouraged workers, and added 5.1 trillion to date to the debt. What a Bazarro world we live in and an ignorant electorate.

Where in the world do you get your information. The actual data says differently as the results are much better today than when he took office as I showed in my previous post

Re: With Christie to campaign for Walker, a state senator claimed Wisconsin led natio

Walker promised 250,000 new jobs by the end of his first term.

The state Department of Workforce Development reported job losses in each of the last six months of 2011; the numbers saw an uptick in January and February, but fell again in March.
Since Walker took office in January 2011, the state of Wisconsin has gained just 5,900 private-sector jobs.

Walker promised 250,000 new jobs by the end of his first term.

Here are the numbers for Walker from BLS.gov

2010 Labor Force Employment U/E Rate

Jan 3096168(F) 2812520(F) 283648(F) 9.2(F)

Mar 3064170(P) 2856643(P) 207527(P) 6.8(P)

So what I see are 2.812 Million employed in January 2010 when Walker took office and 2.856 million in March 2012 or 44,000 more working now than when he took office. But better yet is the improvement in business climate in the state as reported by CEO Magazine, Best/Worst States for Business 2011 | ChiefExecutive.net | Chief Executive Magazine

Is anybody actually running against Walker yet?

Sorry to actually confuse you with facts that disagree with what you have been told. You buy what you are told from sources you want to trust but doubt anything from anyone else. why don't you verify the data I gave you?

Aw, yes, my apology, you are absolutely correct, he was elected in the Republican landslide in November 2010 and took office in January 2011. Want to discuss his performance since January 2011? Is 6.8% unemployment higher or lower than the national average and what it was when he took office? Is his ranking for business climate higher or lower than it was when he took office? Liberals always want to be procise when it comes to Republican results but ignore the Obama lies and distortions. Wonder why?

What effect do you think the recall election is having on hiring in Wisconsin? Although a great improvement in business climate this could all end with the recall vote. Liberals just don't get it, there are consequences for their arrogance.

Hiring? Little to none. I do know that getting rid of govt workers at a time of little private hiring makes the situation worse. Even Reagan knew that.

Yet employment is up and unemployment down, why would anyone kick out a governor with those results? You want to give a President with the opposite results four more years.

But there is where your theory about the executive controlling the economy breaks down, for the same time period, US unemployment levels improved at virtually the same rate as WI: -0.7%, -0.8%.

Chief Executive Magazine tells a different story. If it weren't for states like TX, Wisconsin, and others with Republican Governors the national rate wouldn't be where it is today.

WI lost more jobs in the last twelve months than any other state. Did you read the article. No excuses they lost more jobs than any other state. You offer a handful of excuses when the proof is in the print. How much in denial can you people get?
