Judge says Texas can't ban Planned Parenthood
HOUSTON — A federal judge Monday stopped Texas from banning Planned Parenthood clinics from a state women's health program because the organization provides abortions. In his ruling, U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel in Austin cited evidence that the state rule excluding Planned Parenthood from the program was unconstitutional and imposed an injunction against enforcing the rule until he can hear arguments in the case.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott's office appealed the injunction, which temporarily stopped 49 Planned Parenthood clinics from being removed from the state program. Planned Parenthood officials in Texas praised the judge's ruling, which they said helps protect the women they serve.

Oh good, more illiterate judges... just what we need.

My family has supported PP PP for generations here in Texas.

which is their choice, certainly.

....not sure the state should be forced to fund them though.
if that's going to be the case, i'm going to look for a business to set up to hold Texans hostage to being my customers.... which seem to be a trend in this country.

Good luck with that business:roll:

What PP does is provide things like pap smears and breast cancer screenings.

And abortions. Don't forget that.

I used PP a lot in college, and will probably continue to do so... never got an abortion there. But I was always happy with the workers and their professionalism. They were so helpful in answering my questions and health concerns.

And people say Conservatives don't want to end PP...

I am going to bet Conservatives tried to ban PP from Texas and not Liberals... what a joke.

In ruling Monday, Yeakel said the court was "particularly influenced by the potential for immediate loss of access to necessary medical services by several thousand Texas women."

Ridiculous, are we really looking at this case through the lens of a cost benefit analysis? I really don't see the legal precedent or reasoning behind striking down the public defunding of an individual business.

Defund ≠ Ban.

So what do they do?

a whole host of women's health services

i'm near 60 years old, but i do stay up late... i'm sure i could gather up a comprehensive list of all their services if i were so inclined to do so... but seeing as how you are supposedly an ardent supporter of PP, i'm sure you already know what they do... correct?

PP can exist in Texas all it wants... the state just doesn't want to fund them.
if PP cannot exist without state funding, they probably ought to take on a different business model, though.....i'm sure they can get all sorts of business, seeing how necessary they portray themselves to be.

I asked you first. And you seem to be opposed to their objectives. And I'm more curious as to why you would oppose that.

And yes I know what they do from providing pap smears to breast cancer screenings to abortions AS WELL AS BIRTH CONTROL.

Defund ≠ Ban.

Massive defunding could spell the end to any organization... Conservatives are not worried about PP disappearing. I am not naive, I know a lot pro lifers think PP should be banned.

It may well end or significantly downsize PP in Texas, but not nationally. Many think it should be disbanded, but there has been no legislative action that points towards that as a possibility.

opposed to their objectives?... what objectives might those be?

I'm opposed to a few things PP does... but i'm not opposed to them existing or doing their thing

i'm opposed to them repeatedly trying to step between parent on their minor children.. and i'm opposed to their ' go forth and **** to your hearts content" philosophy of reproductive health ( that cartoon they put out for kids still sticks in my craw).. i'm opposed to their political hypocrisy ( telling their opponents to keep politics out of it, while engaging in politics themselves)

no one in my family is a customer/patient of PP... we don't use them, we don't need them, we don't support them ( donations or business transactions).. so they are rather irrelevant to us... we have our own doctors
I used to applaud their adoption referrals services.... but they let that side of the business go to hell .. seems abortion pay better.

is there a reason you need a list of their services from me?
