OWS plan on blocking New York Bridges, Tunnels, and Ferries on May 1st.

Re: 'Occupy' Promises 'Biggest Shut Down The City Of New York Has Ever Seen,' Blockad

So you support shutting down bridges even if that means someone dies cause they cant get to the hospital....

Is there a single borough in the entire city of NY that ships sick people to hospitals in other boroughs?

Re: 'Occupy' Promises 'Biggest Shut Down The City Of New York Has Ever Seen,' Blockad

Americans want jobs to be here but refuse to support anything that is made in this country. Farms are being controlled by their vendors because people will not buy from a farm anymore. Consumers reward companies who slash jobs, outsource overseas, treat their employees like crap and other measures to keep costs down. It is counter productive to the economy we want to see built. It is nothing more than greed. It pure hypocrisy. People demand from our government that jobs arent being created and then go and buy some chinese garbage at Walmart. People get upset when their small business fails and then go to McDonalds for dinner. The government is not the problem here. So many conservatives and others love to blame Obama for our economic problems. I call bull**** on that. Obama or his policies are not to blame for our problems. Greedy ass, hypocritical consumers are what is wrong with our country.

Wow ! We have inexperienced youth here !

You need to learn how markets work. What motivates people. Note how Donahue 30 years ago is spouting the exact same crap as OWS today.

Government is the problem grasshopper.

Re: 'Occupy' Promises 'Biggest Shut Down The City Of New York Has Ever Seen,' Blockad

I bet it flops.

It won't flop in Cali. The Golden Gate Bridge is only three lanes into Marin County. BTW, Marin Co. is populated by 1%ers. You can't live there otherwise.

Chicago School of Economics? Seriously? The guys who backed big right wing governments in Latin America are who you're sourcing as proof that "government is the problem"? You're more ignorant of history than I thought. No wonder you think you built this country in the 1970s.

Really on "international workers day" the socialist holiday?

Nah, it's not a left wing movement.... But let's be real here. This movement is long dead and nothing will be stopped.
Yeah, Occupy and the 99%ers are clearly functioning left-wing.

And, they really became that from the get-go when they struck on Wall Street, a right-wing darling, in defense of workers, a left-wing darling.

The polarization occurred then, and there was really nothing that could be done to stop it. They then garnered left-wing support from similarly famous leftist groups, and it was all over.

The polarization killed them.

Had they found a way to address their concerns without creating an us-them, win-lose structure, a more complete win-win perspective, they might have become a player.

It's too late now .. at least for them.

Occupy was the "call attention to it" faction and 99%ers was the "do something about it" faction.

At one time the 99%ers had developed a 20-30 item recommended laundry lists of specific grievances. Now that recommened list has been trimmed to five rather esoteric items to which the general public will find difficulty relating.

I find it sad, I mean for America in general, that a better effort wasn't made by these people to avoid death-knell polarization.

Now they're locked in liberal ("us") v. conservative ("them") stalemate .. where they will eventually just wither away into the ether.

The only hope for the changes they wanted to make will be if a new entity rises, not necessarily from their ashes, but still one that avoids their polarization mistakes.

No no, you really are ignorant of history. You just displayed it in spades. Citing Milton Freedman, endorser of Pinochet as proof that a "free market" is what we need. Here is your small government idol:

"Chile is not a politically free system, and I do not condone the system. But the people there are freer than the people in Communist societies because government plays a smaller role. ... The conditions of the people in the past few years has been getting better and not worse. They would be still better to get rid of the junta and to be able to have a free democratic system."

Unless of course we forget that:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chile#20th_century

The first years of the regime were marked by human rights violations. On October 1973, at least 72 people were murdered by the Caravan of Death.[48] According to the Rettig Report and Valech Commission, at least 2,115 were killed,[49] and at least 27,265 [50] were tortured (including 88 children younger than 12 years old).[50] A new Constitution was approved by a controversial plebiscite on 11 September 1980, and General Pinochet became president of the republic for an 8-year term.

How about you explain it for me. Point to what I said in my post that was incorrect.

You said this:

Greedy ass, hypocritical consumers are what is wrong with our country.

Watch the video. Greed is constant. It is that desire to improve oneself, and one's family. It is what drives consumption in any market.

It is no more "wrong" than is eating, sleeping, farting, etc. You may not like farts, but they are not "wrong".

No no, I showed why you're ignorant of history. Mostly because you cite "Milton Freedman" as an argument for small government and free markets. Not knowing that the prick supported right wing dictatorships in South America.

Who sets the rules? you can whine at the players, but if the game is rigged by the rule setters, can you blame the players?

think "brodeur rule"....

Yes you can. Sure you can say "well everything was set for them to take advantage of X", but there could still be problems with taking advantage of X with well known results. The point isn't that they're just taking advantage, they're part of the loop. They're petitioning Congress and giving a bunch of money to get laws made that are favorable to them, Congress of course plays ball. I don't think they were really singling out companies, but rather were demonstrating against this mixing of Corporate and State entity.

Which still demonstrates that OWS of dubious left wing causes, is missing the mark with who they are protesting. We have a say over our government. a business can tell you to **** off....

I think OWS is a dubious causes through lack of proper planning and leadership. Yet the fundamental protest against the Corporate State I do believe has roots in the truth of our system. Both sides are feeding into the system, and the system needs to be condemned.

"The guys who backed big right wing governments in Latin America"??

Where did Milton Friedman or anyone at the Chicago School of Economics support big government of any sort? That ridiculous statement is something only a socialist could like.

I love how people that are well off are the bad guys in this, and not the governing bodies that impose the ridiculous breaches of privacy, taxes, and regulations that strangle small business owners. My family owned an orchard since the 30's. It generated work, it generated local goods free of harmful pesticides that others were using, and it was started from scratch. My great grandparents were nobodies that became somebodies, they followed through with the American dream. Somehow, we're the bad guys in this, just because we have money.

LOL, yeah right. If you believe that, you'll believe anything. And it's already been established that you will, and you do.
