I think even more disgusting is that we cannot even have a proper debate on it, regardless of how one may feel towards it. It immediately turns into propaganda and partisan tripe.

I just really wish people could think more instead of shutting off the brain and going with whatever reaction the media told them to go with.

What is disgusting is a post that frames it as "fair healthcare", when I do not believe that there is another post here that says such, much less defines "fair".

Do you like your red herring broiled or blackened ? How about "flushed" ?

Well, the problem with healthcare, for example, is that you can't have a real discussion on it because it requires an acceptance of the fundamental premises which these "anti-entitlement" folks deny: the corporate selling-out of the entire system; the failure of private insurance companies to come together with a system that works through the free market; the idea that insurance companies are more effective when they are larger, therefore implying corporatization/monopolozation or government monopoly as the most effective (with the former having proven a failure), etc.

They can't talk about it because they can't accept these facts. When one soberly assesses the facts, one comes to the only conclusion possible: namely, that the only real answer is a single-payer system.

Really? That disgusts you? You must get disgusted pretty easily.

Okay, let's start with a really simple idea, then: how about a system whereby 100% are covered and where healthcare costs don't put people in debtors' prison for their entire lives?

well, I have hope. Only in America did the Great Recession spawn a movement demanding less government.

    Because we're so smart here!

Well, I don't know about our intelligence. Our public education system seems to have taken a good hatchet to that. But we are at least currently wiser than Europe. Let us hope we are wise enough to dodge the bullet rather than catch it in the face.

Given our penchant for ignorance, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Since when do we have plans to insert ourselves into Ethiopia, Colombia, Kenya, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, Georgia, Mozambique, etc? It's definitely politically motivated in some form or another, but I have a hard time seeing it as any kind of show of force, or assertion of national dominance.

Globalist attachments to push agenda and power
And to keep us from going flat broke in a global economy. Plus I do see signing the treaties we signed that limit our power, or ability to use the maximum amount of force as pushing agendas and power. Your view is far too limited, which is made apparent by your criticism as the "republocrats" as a single party. For one, they clearly aren't the same, and Mussolini despised the very antics that are pulled in congress on a daily basis, as they inhibit progress. That's why he rejected liberal democracy, in favor of one dictatorial rule.

egalitarian social doctrine which is being whittled down. Yes.
Whittled down? Since when? Egalitarian doctrine continues to grow into every aspect of American life, from health care to the military. From day one of schooling, we're taught that we're all the same, we're all of equal worth and status, and should be treated as such, and that ideology isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Fascists, we are not. Jingoists, with a hint of McCarthyism definitely, but not fascists.
I love the NSA. It's like having a secret fan-base you will never see, but they're there, watching everything you write and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing that I may be some person's only form of unconstitutional entertainment one night.

I'm in the tourism business and deal with people from all parts of the world and hold the intelligence of the American people second to none.

Of course the real test of my conviction will be come in the November presidential election.
