I think it stinks that she was fired because she underwent IVF. I also think that private employers can hire and fire at will, unless there's a specific breach of contract involved. I still feel bad for her.

Read you're last 3 posts on the Catholic Church. I guess you've moved on to another religious belief or dropped out of religion all together, yes? Hey, everyone is free to choose to join up or not join up. I personally don't care what folks believe.

As to the "shuffle priests" thing, I'm with you on that one, they needed to be prosecuted and IMO never let out of jail. You don't hurt kids.

Correct me if Im wrong but werent the Romans killing the hell out of Christians for a very long time? Was it for religious reasons? No? Okay.

    How about the Civil War?
    Revolutionary?
    WW1?
    WW2?
    Spanish American?
    War of the Roses?
    War of 1812?
Communist Revolutions in China and Russia?
    Vietnamese conflict?
    Korean?

Going for the religious angle is specious at best. Aside from the Muslim brand of radicalism, religion has not been a motivating factor in war for quite a while.

I figured out the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church at age 13. I'm still recovering.

I don't know why this is so hard to grasp. She broke the rules repeatedly in her place of employment. Her contract is not renewed. The end.

Leave all the emotion out of it, people. Stop blabbering about how much you hate the Catholic Church. Stop blabbering about "oh poor thing just wants a baby." Take all the emotion out of it and look at it like it really is - a woman is continually breaking the rules at work, and as a result, doesn't get her contract renewed.
The problem with your argument is that the rule may well be against the law as it relates to her "disability"

And if she beats the hypocritical asses in court, I'll dance a jig. I realize as a closet right winger you can't get your hands around the concept of religious hypocrisy.

I'm not a Catholic. I said I was raised Catholic. And I never said I hated Catholics. I have said that I hate the Catholic Church. Did you attend the same reading classes as the Rev? Another conservative that can't read. Oh the delicious irony.

I don't find the "poor lady was fired because she broke the rules", that you seem to have bought into, as compelling either.

It pays to do a little research, if you're taking a job with a religious organization. You might find out you can't stand any of their beliefs or rules.
You seem to think the word "rules" gives the Catholic Church magical protection from the Law. If the "rule" violates the Law, she shouldn't have to follow the "rule", and they can't enforce it. The question at hand is whether the "rule" itself is discriminatory and whether the exclusion provided for religious institutions apply to these employees.

The current supreme court might not deem this action to be unlawful, but I hope the case get a lot of public attention, it will expose the Catholic Church for its numerous stupid policies.

I have no sympathy. I live in a "right to work" state and last year almost got fired for missing 4 days due to an emergency appendectomy surgery without which I would have died.

So you are against anti-discrimination law for gender, religion, disability etc?
