Democrats boycott Coke, Walmart over voter ID laws

Democratic officials Wednesday launched a two-pronged attack on states with new laws requiring identification before voting, the highlight being a call to boycott Coke, Walmart and others that back a leading organization pushing for voter ID laws.

Voter ID laws seem common sense to me. It creates more confidence in the election results and reduces fraudulent voting.

This push to boycott Walmart just makes me want to go there right now and buy several things. To start I could use some more ammo…9mm, 7.62 x 39mm, .308, and some shotgun shells.

Best case scenario for the boycotters is half the country boycotts the world's largest retailer. So to Wal-Mart, it would be kind of like walking into a cloud of misquitoes....an annoying distraction that leaves a few temporary spots of irritation.

Then again, Wal-Mart is the most accessible store in the country and, in some areas, the only chain store available and thus the only source of decent prices (and perhaps, in more rural areas, the only qualified SNAP participant). Perhaps Coke might take a slight hit, but I seriously doubt Wal-Mart is shaking in its boots right now.

the south will keep walmart a coke's profits strong, and in any area heavily populated by liberals, the stores would just eat the loss they would incur from the boycott and move on.

plus its a given that alot of democrats would not boycott walmart in favor of huge selection and low low prices

I hope they go through with it. I dont support their reasons but walmart is the most disgusting corporation on earth and does more to destroy lives than any other group, organization or person in the history of the world. I support any efforts to boycott walmart.

Voter ID laws seem common sense to me. It creates more confidence in the election results and reduces fraudulent voting.
After seeing how the 2007 voter ID law in Georgia didn't negatively effect minority voter turnout, there is no legitimate reason to oppose such laws. In fact, they found that only 1 in 2000 registered voters didn't have the proper ID and needed to obtain one prior to voting.

So if opposition to the ID laws isn't to allow voting by convicted felons and non-US citizens, then what exactly is the reason?

This push to boycott Walmart just makes me want to go there right now and buy several things. To start I could use some more ammo…9mm, 7.62 x 39mm, .308, and some shotgun shells.

Occurs to me that instead of wasting time organizing a boycott, these people should use that energy to help those poor folkd who are so deaf, dumb and blind that they can't figure out how to get a state I.D. I'd love to know how these people cash checks.

I'd LOVE to see some sort of sourcing on this.

    :

I have a hard time believing they're actually doing that. especially since it's a state-issue and many states alreayd have such laws.

Boycotting Walmart is never a waste of time.

not a fan of walmart so i don't shop there, but coke would have to do a lot to get me to boycott them.

if i were to cease drinking caffeine free diet, i'm reasonably certain coke's stock would fall the next day in trading.
