Jerry Sandusky Called A 'Likely Pedophile' By Psychologist In 1998

Penn State police were warned Jerry Sandusky fit the profile of a pedophile in 1998, an internal memo has revealed. The memo, published by NBC News, was written by Alycia Chambers, who was a psychologist for an 11-year-old boy who knew Sandusky through his charity for troubled boys, Second Mile Program. The boy is not named in the report, but is now known as Victim 6. He is one of 10 boys allegedly molested by the former Penn State coach over a 15-year period. Sandusky denies the allegations against him.

    And this proves what?

If I were a juror sitting on a case like this, what would such a statement mean? Nothing. If the child has said he had been abused, it was reported and they took no action, that is one thing, but to say he should of been fired or even investigated because a phsychologist says he is a "Likely Pedophile" because she thought he fit a profile, I think not. Should the University be held accountable for not firing him based upon this phsychologist's report, no. Before you can hold the University accountable, you need to show that accusations were made, verified and then they took no action.

How many people fit a "profile" for something but don't actually do what the profile says? A criminal profile is nothing but a collection of statistics to give law enforcement a place to start looking if they have no other clues, it does not prove or disprove anything. Those profiles based upon statistice say that a serial killers is most likely a white male, does that mean all serial killers are white males, no. Those profiles says that a rapist is most likely the same race as the victim but there are rapist that rape other races also.

He fit a profile, did that mean he was a pedofile, in this case, it proved true, but to have taken any action towards him based upon that profile before an accusation was made and confirmed would of been wrong.

The part of the profile he fit was that he took a shower with a kid and gave that kid a big hug in the shower.

"Chambers was called by the boy’s mother at 7:43 a.m. on May 4, 1998. The boy had returned home the night before, his hair wet, after spending two hours with Sandusky at the Penn State athletic room.
After meeting with her client in her office and talking to his mother, Chambers described in her written report how Sandusky had coaxed the boy into the shower after a workout, telling him, “All the guys do.” He then moved closer to him, squeezing him tightly from behind while they were both naked. The boy also told Chambers how, during their workout, Sandusky had kissed him on the forehead and told him, ‘I love you.” He also invited the boy back to his house to “sit on his lap” and go “online” on his “cool computer,” the boy’s mother told Chambers, recounting her conversation with her son the previous night.

“My consultants agree that the incidents meet all of our definitions, based on experience and education, of a likely pedophile’s pattern of building trust and gradual introduction of physical touch, within a context of a ‘loving,’ ‘special’ relationship,” Chambers wrote in her report.

“One colleague, who has contact with the Second Mile, confirms that Mr. Sandusky is reasonably intelligent and thus, could hardly have failed to understand the way his behavior would be interpreted, if known,” Chambers continued. “His position at the Second Mile and his interest in abused boys would suggest that he was likely to have had knowledge with regard to child abuse and might even recognize this behavior as a typical pedophile ‘overture.’”

Chambers gave her report to Penn State police Officer Ronald Schreffler on May 7, 1998, along with a cover letter that highlighted “the gravity of the incidents.” Chambers had also reported the incident to the Pennsylvania “suspected child abuse” hotline, where officials wrote up their own report identifying Sandusky as the “AP” or “Alleged Perpetrator.” Lauro, an investigator who specialized in abuse cases, was assigned to work the case with Schreffler. idk, but imho, the "profile" which was based on the above actions might be sound
