Occupy 6-Month Anniversary Protest Ends With Zuccotti Park Arrests

NEW YORK — An Occupy Wall Street protester says police gave demonstrators little warning before kicking them out of a New York City park overnight and that officers beat several of them during the arrests. The protester, Chris Casuccio, was at Manhattan's Zuccotti Park on Saturday, where demonstrators chanted and held impromptu meetings to mark the six months since the movement against economic inequality.Police moved in around 11:30 p.m. Detective Brian Sessa says the protesters were arrested after they started breaking the park rules against setting up tents.Police say 73 people were detained. It was unclear how many were still in custody Sunday. Police say they have no information about whether protesters were beaten.Workers were hosing down the park Sunday as a handful of protesters watched from outside metal police barricades.

Yes, it's going to be a crazy spring and summer. I'm fine with protesting, I'm not fine with camping out in a public park indefinitely causing all sorts of problems from violence to sanitation problems.

you know what's really ****ing sad?

I agree with many of the grievances of the Occupy Movement. I want the Glass-Steagall Act reinstated. I want more tax-brackets for the wealthy. I want the maximum tax bracket brought back to at least 38%. I want taxes on capital gains adjusted. I want it to be easier for folks to afford to be able to go to public colleges & universities. I want money out of politics.

but I no longer support OWS. and why not? because of their violent, disgraceful, disruptive, and unpatriotic actions during fall 2011. because some of their demands, are insane, greedy, and selfish. because not only do they refuse to come up with a platform, but they take pride in having no concrete platform or goals.

this makes them losers, a waste of the public's time, and one giant political tease.

this nation, needs a revolutionary social-democratic movement, that is NOT AFRAID to have goals that will be rejected by extremists. we need a movement that is willing to work with like-minded politicians.

and OWS? well they seem to be just a bunch of cowards, unwilling to stand up for something detailed & clear....out of fear that they might lose some supporters. they want to remain as vague, generalized, and non-commital as possible.

    so **** them.

They had some policy complaints I could agree with. To bad the group and their supporters are to stupid to even understand who they should be protesting.

I live in NYC. Ive been to OWS events. I followed their main website daily. I spoke with participants & supporters daily.

I know what they are about, and its a ****ing joke and a tease.

They will accomplish nothing significant, other than bankrupting cities and giving cops lots of overtime pay.

I give the OWS a big whole, resounding, meh. There was certainly merit to some of their complaints (Then again, these complaints are nothing new, growing disparity of income and the like), but they lost their message and have become a burden to the tax payer, and to those who hold similar beliefs as them, giving the counter-point, conservatives, another sect of liberals to attack. IMHO, protesting is fine, but be responsible whilst doing it, this is my major complaint with the "movement" no central leadership, and a group who tends to muddy their points of protest.

So OWS, please stop, your only hurting your fellow liberal by protesting recklessly, and appearing bat**** crazy.
