Major US Airport To Evict TSA Screeners

Re: TSA To Get The Boot - Free Market Beats Central Government Control

profit is only half the results, also, performance and competition. this is from prison planet though, so I'm not holding my breath. :prof

Well that's true. I suppose what I don't understand is people cheering kicking the TSA out of a particular airport, but apparently not having a problem with it being replaced a private organization which adheres to the same practices and SOP.

We are hoping they hire better people, and private companies have the risk of being sued.

Well I'm sure some people think that, but my perception is that a number of folks simply have a reflexive dislike for the TSA because they view it as a direct affront to civil liberties, which is fine, but replacing the TSA with private security doesn't mean a change in protocol so I hardly see what difference it makes.

I agree. I think it is far more offensive patting down injured 3 year olds in wheel chairs than it is profiling a little bit.

I think instead of tsa making it up on the fly there should be a standar protocol and an optional bypass line, which as a frequent traveler, this libertarian would submit background info to bypass that ****, and does when i can.

Wheel chairs can be used to to hide drugs and explosives. It's not as if kids are somehow immune from drug dealers and terrorism.

Hysterics.... They patted down the kids cast. Over reactiln from a mindless beurocracy, also refused to to optional provate screening.

You may wish to ben over without the lube, not the american style, let common sense prevail!

Hysterics.... They patted down the kids cast.

Casts have been used in the past to pass off powdered drugs. Actually, cocaine has been passed in ceramic form before. A 2KG cast of cocaine is worth 50-60K wholesale. A few hundred K if not more when it gets cut. Seriously, this is a relatively small nuisance.

Are we concerened about passenger safety here or drug busts?

I have considered both. A cast can be used to hide a matter of things. It should be searched like any other piece of luggage. The same goes for a wheel chair. It wouldn't be that hard to create a secret compartment in a wheelchair and hide explosives or weapons. As I said, my issue with this is the fact that private contractors, don't have an ideological state in this issue. They are there strictly for economic purposes. Not only that but they are bound by economic liabilities and the PR nightmares that companies try to avoid at all costs. This by definition cuts down their effectiveness of any group seeking to replace the TSA's airport personal and more importantly the FAMS.

Don't you fly regularly? I do. Imagine you have a nightmarish scenario like the Zimmerman-Martin case. By the end of the week and media circus, there wouldn't be a single private company willing to take that kind of political, social and economic hit. Already companies scramble to save face when an asshole passenger gets kicked off the plane for being too far or not getting off his cellphone. Now imagine they have to deal with a security threat where adrenaline rushed and a person died by accident or worse, without reason. Sorry, the free market isn't really a solution to this.

so you are saying the average TSA has a stake in your safety? you don't fly much do you? What my friend can you hide in your ass that you can hide in a cast? Shall we probe the child as well?

If we are to run it, we should do as isreal.

Airport security - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Note thier last hijacking was in 1969, and... and... it is much more a pleasure getting through thier security than it is ours. Trust me.

And a private company would for the right price, do pretty much anything.

so you are saying the average TSA has a stake in your safety?

As a branch of government accountable to the people? Yes, yes I do.

you don't fly much do you? What my friend can you hide in your ass that you can hide in a cast? Shall we probe the child as well?

Physically invasive searches for a 3 year old? Hyperbole is strong with you today isn't it?

If we are to run it, we should do as isreal.

You obviously haven't been to a security checkpoint.

Then you don't travel much.

Every other week.

Yes - yes it is: They didn't do a ****ing cavity search. They did a ****ing pat down. If that's invasive, you may as well start suing anybody who rubs you the wrong way in a crowd.

in numerous countries, this year alone.

Here's a tip for you - they don't just look at your passport in Israel and tell you to keep going. ;)

Well, we didn't have to take off our shoes until some idiot tried to light one up, perhaps, we can let the kids in wheelchairs that don't fit a profile, through.

Considering it only works in 2 ****ing airports in the ENTIRE US - that's not much of a better road. I dream of the day when you'll stop pretending you're a big shot. :)

I'd rather take precautions.

I'm sure you showed them your CLEAR card that only works in a few terminals at 2 airports and they let you through?

Major US Airport To Evict TSA Screeners
Wednesday, March 14, 2012

"Orlando Sanford International, has announced it will opt out of using TSA workers to screen passengers...

With Sanford International having originally been prevented by the TSA from opting out back in November 2010 when the federal agency froze the ability for airports to use their own private screeners, a law passed by the Senate last month forces the TSA to reconsider applications."

Senate Passes Bill Allowing Airports To Evict TSA Screeners
Tuesday, February 7, 2012

"The Senate has passed legislation that includes a provision allowing airports to replace TSA screeners with private security..

Should airports choose to replace TSA screeners with their own private security, it would not only mean the screeners were better trained and more responsible for their actions, alleviating the problems of thefts and abuse by TSA workers, but it would also create tens of thousands of much needed jobs for the private sector.

...contract security personnel are more courteous than government workers,"

Hopefully a sign of the pendulum swing that brings our country back from the socialist brink.

Remember when Texas tried going the same route??

Well, http://stopaustinscanners.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/dept_of_justice_letter.pdf

They essentially threatened to put up a "no-fly zone" around Texas if the TSA was not allowed to conduct their "searches".

So, I'd be surprised if this was allowed to take place.

The TSA by any other name is still the TSA so It doesnt matter to me but then again while I dont like that things have happened to bring the TSA in existence im also not under the false impression that they violate the constitution either so either way

Re: TSA To Get The Boot - Free Market Beats Central Government Control

Of course they have. McDonald's doesn't tell you where to find the nearest Wendy's.

What do you mean ?

That's but one, there are pilot programs which, you can try to be a part of. I call all the programs "clear check" or somesuch. *shrug* as far as me "pretending to be a big shot"? Jealousy is such a miserable bitch hautey.... It's quite ugly on you. :pimpdaddy:

Hatuey Fun Fact: I've worked for Jeppesen (my company designed some of the multimedia they use in their training programs and PR department).

fun Fact, The Good Reverend works for himself, Some of his clients have included boeing, and SAIC, Nothrop Grumman, executive aviation... etc.

I'd rather take precautions.

funny, I never pegged you as one who would play chicken little to W's fear mongering.

I'm sure you showed them your CLEAR card that only works in a few terminals at 2 airports and they let you through? :
[/quote]

Clear is but one, it was an example, There are numerous systems, Clear happens to be one that I use as the umbrella term, since I am most familiar with it, given our customer base in FL. (I hate lines)

There is also, "precheck", here in the tri-state area...

TSA: <img src="/graphics/images/whatwedo/tsa_precheck_logo.jpg" alt="TSA PreCheck" border="0">

They say they will be rolling it out at EWR, however, The Good Reverend has been part of it's pilot program for at least a year now. :pimpdaddy:

I hope this makes you feel better, I'd hate for you to have another miserable day.

...im also not under the false impression that they violate the constitution either so either way

So, the notion that their actions either do, or could potentially violate the constitution is automatically false? How objective of you.:lol:

there is no potential the TSA rules and regulations violate the constitution, they simply dont
So yes its very objective. LOL
