Haha. No. An old baseball cap is as worthless in Cuba as it is in the US.

If you ever actually go there you may have better perspective and won't be so quick to call people liars.
My wife is Cuban. I go to Cuba 3-4 times a year using my Canadian passport (naturalized citizen). I speak fluent Spanish(self taught mind you in order to get with my wife). Would you like to continue lying? Your link and claims about your uncle do nothing for me. I've been to the country. No fisherman in his right mind is going to trade 5 lobsters for an old baseball cap when lobster runs 10-15 bucks a plate.

Socialized economy, they're not in dire need. I assume in good spirits the cubans had some lobster to share and the fella was like... have a baseball cap, lol.

It's a possibility. However Cuba's economy is socialized in name only. Privately run restaurants and clandestine ones exist all over Cuba. Their food prices are sometimes higher than those in the US when Cubans make in some cases 1/100th of somebody making $1500 a month here. His little "my uncle" story is cute though. 5 lobsters for a baseball cap? Hahahaha. I'm sure these kids wearing Ed Hardy in Cuba are just dyyyyying for a Yankees cap:
