"If you're suggesting that there is responsibility for a rise in the price of oil, it's certainly not because of anything he hasn't done to expand oil production," Carney added.

This is an interesting and important turn in the upcoming election. Can Obama, with his moratoriums and pipeline blocking, successfully pull off the "don't blame me" game when few presidents before him could? IMO 5 or 6 dollar a gallon gas could spell the end for his re-election plans, despite the mess the republican filed of contenders is. This is an issue that will weigh heavily on the outcome of the election IMO.

If it happens on his watch, it's his fault.

I don't really care what Fox had to say on the matter, though Bill O'Rielly is hardly *Fox*. Since I posted this topic it has become abundantly clear that Obama is getting the blame, which is no surprise to me.

That logic doesn't really stack up against reality. he may well get the blame, as presidents get too much credit and too much blame. But reality is they don't have that kind of control.

If you read that as the cause being the point, I think you misread. I'm speaking to what action of his can you point to him taking that caused it. If you can show a cause and effect relationship, not he was there, you might have an argument. Anyway, that was my point, not that he didn't cause it so he's not responsible.
