Girl Beaten Unconscious Over Bus Seat: Cops

Talk about Planet of the Apes!

(AP) – "Seven central Florida teenagers were arrested after authorities said they punched and kicked a 13-year-old until she was unconscious while on a school bus. The victim told authorities that yesterday was her first time riding the bus and no one would let her sit down. About 75 children were riding the bus bound for a middle school in Ocala, a rural city north of Orlando."

Girl Beaten Unconscious Over Bus Seat: Cops - 7 teens charged with battery, disorderly conduct

I hate driving through Ocala. If you are going to get in a traffic accident anywhere in Florida, then that is the place it is most likely to happen. I am not surprised that something like that would occur there.

Where was the school bus driver? She should be fired, no questions asked. And before you question me, understand that my mother was a school bus driver for 11 years. They have cameras and communications equipment on buses these days, there is no excuse for what happened. My Mom had a problem once with kids, so she stopped the bus and made a phone call at a neighbor's house.

I Goggled girl beaten on school bus to get more info and I couldn't believe the long list of events like this that came up. Girls being raped and or beaten on school buses seems to be fairly common, it's one of those times I wonder if our civilization is collapsing. When I was a kid everyone was very well behaved on my school bus and I never heard of anything like this ever happening. Kind of depressing really.

With all the occurences of violence and bullying on school buses you would think school districts would have developed policies and give training and strict guidelines for what bus drivers are to do. I wonder if that would leave them more vulnerable to law suits though for when the policies are not followed to the letter.

Just as an update: the bus driver did end up resigning. What he didn't do was pull over and bring the kid up front and protect her. The shocking video (and I've seen quite a bit and concerts and other places) surprised me because a girl almost got killed for asking for a seat on the bus. But the assailants were girls! The lamestream barely covered this, the establishment didn't want it playing on CNN all week as another national embarrassment like the failed Katrina rescue, or the oil spill, or the police beating OWS and students. But anyway, I think it must be the violent video games. This is a group lynching. This type of group behavior has to be conditioned. Like TV or something? Just a thought.

Always gotta blame inanimate objects.

Why not put the blame where it actually belongs? Like the parents and the people in the government that has basically put a strangle hold on a parents ability to properly raise thier child. And on Dr. Phil. That is one person that I would love to go back in time and shoot in the head the second they were born. His ideals on how to raise children is a big part of the reason that parents are no longer able to manage thier children.

What I find funny is the fact that there are a million and one books on how to raise a child. And not one is applicable to every single child in one town...much less the whole world.

Nearly killing someone because they ask for a seat on the bus is a learned behavior. Maybe TV or video games or both. The B/W movie glorifying the clan was taken out of circulation for a reason, as was a movie about shooting the President was after JFK died. It romanticizes killing.

The bus driver is an idiot and should be fined for accessory to attempted murder. What else could it be called?
If she helped the kid being beaten she would have had to use some physical force to stop 7 kids in a bus. I bet she would be charged with assault etc. with 7 kids testifying against her and no one supporting her not even the kid being beaten.

It could be called indifference, laziness, stupidity, recklessness, negligence.

I blame liberals for this.

You can't discipline kids in 2012. The bus driver can't do anything. If he touches one of those kids, he'll be in jail, fired, or sued.

He may be, by protocol, not permitted to intervene. If a cop can tase an unarmed person to prevent their own injury  do you expect schoolbus drivers to stop traffic, turn around and start bashing kids.

Also, nobody gets beat for asking for a bus seat, it doesn't seem racially charged either. Which begs the question what did this kid do or say?

That could have something to do with it, but imo, it's mostly that parents don't teach their kids how to behave anymore. If I had done something like that when I was a kid, my mom would have busted my ass, and rightfully so. It's a shame that some kids can only be taught by physical force, but it's the truth.

What the **** is wrong people. I think with EVERYTHING that goes on in this world, **** like this pisses me off more than anything. What kind of piece of **** thugs gangs up and beats up a girl. I swear to God and everything holy I'd beat the **** out anyone I saw attempting something like this. I mean, even at 13 I would have stood up and said something even if I got my ass kicked. Such a prime example of cowardice and no good thuggery.

****ing christ.

Other little girls and boys.

If all the kids gang up and beat you up its cause you probably said something in the first place. I don't believe in mob justice, but it doesnt happen due to a floating cloud of airborne rabies.

Yup..you're right, that girl got beat up because she said something...

And we have many people in this country who want to stifle free speech in the face of controversy, or for fear of offending someone. Cowards.

No ****...
I could say something to get my rear jumped in certain places.

lol seriously, I'm surprised I haven't been beat up more. I am a ginger and I have a big mouth lol

but I mean lining up to beat up a girl is ridiculous. I hope they all get months if juvie..

People need to grow up and quit complaining that somebody said something they didn't like. Tough ****. That's what people do.

Or for possibly reducing mob beatdowns on the foolish?

I looked around and Wikipedia states that Florida has a "duty to rescue" Duty to rescue - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia , however the source they cite in the Florida statutes is not valid. The only "duty" to act people in Florida have (that I could find) is reporting a sexual assault Statutes & Constitution :View Statutes : Online Sunshine

That does not justify the driver from not stepping in, but I think Peter Grimm is correct that

When I was a kid teachers broke up fights all the time but the liberal lawyers have put a stop to that so here we are.

Thanks TG, however "defense of another" is a time tested premise when the situation calls for it. No jail, if fired the driver has a claim of wrongful termination, if sued he has a defense and his employer would bay for all costs associated. Nevertheless, I was thinking more that the driver should have stopped the bus earlier used a communication device to contact the authorities to have the bullies removed.

FL. STAT. § 776.012: Use of Force in Defense of Person
A person is justified in using force, except deadly force, against another when and to the extent that the person reasonably
believes that such conduct is necessary to defend ... another against the other's imminent use of unlawful force.

Here the girl was ganged up on and beaten unconscious.

Something bad happened! It must be the liberals' fault.

It's interesting how supposedly a majority of the country is conservative, yet liberals seem to make all the rules.

Feel persecuted much?

the bus driver did what he could. it's not his fault little savages decided to beat a girl. THEY should be charged with attempted murder as adults.

Yeah - I've yet to hear of any bus driving having called the COPS when children are behaving violently.

That's what you're suppose to do when someone's being attacked - either step in and STOP it or CALL the cops immediately - this whole 'keep driving' is stupid but their only reaction from all the many cases we've heard.

You know - if they started and stopped then didn't he check on her - bring her up front - or something at least?

he did stop it once......and then it started again. he then drove to the nearest school and called officals, who presumably called the police. it's not his fault.
