Little story about when I was a kid. I was 11 and I was having some bullying troubles on the bus. Nothing I couldnt habdle but I knew that if I was dealing with 5 or 6 kids I would not be winning that sort of problem. So I picked out the guy that I knew was pretty much the ringleader and told him when we get off this bus, Im going to stomp your ass, just you and me...I dont care if I have to walk 20 blocks to get home, you are not going to give me **** all day and get away with it.
So we get into it, hes bigger than me, longer reach and stronger, but hes a clumsy bastard so I got inside on him after taking a few hits and pummeled the hell out of him after I got inside his reach. At this point we are both getting pretty tore up and an adult comes running over and asks who started it. The bigger guy looks at me and points at me and says I did.
I look at the adult and I say damn right I did, this guy and 5 of his buddies were bullying me on the bus, all Im doing is standing up for myself. The guy told the bigger kid to get his ass home and then made sure I was alright. It was the bigger kid's father, who thanked me for teaching his son that a lesson in respect puntuated by a black eye tends to stick better than one punctuated with a period.
No one ever gave me **** after that, because it wasnt worth getting bloodied up over. Which I had shown I was determined to do if I was given crap by anyone. Most of those kids actually became friends later and learned that bullying someone wasnt worth it and pushes people away that could be good friends. Im not saying thats how everyone should deal with it, but if it happened more often bullies would not grow so brazen in their attempts.
