An Africa that isn't in democratic chaos is in the interest of any world power. 23 million is a small price to pay for helping promote the passing of a new constitution here and there.

Are your being intentionally dishonest? Abortion in Kenya is not legal. Here are the specific conditions under which abortion is allowed in Kenya:

Unsafe abortion in Kenya: Poor women, teenagers most affected

Currently, abortion is permissible under the Penal Code if a woman has been raped, conceives in an incestuous relationship or if she is of unsound mind. But reproductive health specialist Joachim Osur argues that people do not abort because it is legal or illegal. "What worries doctors is the increase in unsafe abortions that lead to death. Entrenching this issue in the Constitution is like tying the hands of a doctor, who would have saved at least one life when both are in danger," says Dr Osur. Despite the provisions in the law, desperate women continue to self-induce abortions or obtain clandestine abortions carried out by untrained persons under poor hygienic conditions.
In Kenya, few choices to backstreet abortions - CNN

Women are being forced into backstreet abortions in Kenya because of the country's restrictive abortion law, a study says.

And the law could soon get even tougher with church groups urging a ban on almost all abortions.

The U.S.-based Center for Reproductive Health, which advocates abortions rights, found that women and girls in Kenya use metal wires, knitting needles and other unsafe practices to abort tens of thousands of unwanted pregnancies.
Illegal Abortion Kills Kenyan Women | Focal Point | Big Think

Elective abortion is illegal in Kenya. On paper, rape victims still have the right to terminate their pregnancies, but in practice many are denied the option.

The report tells the story of "Sarah," a 14-year-old rape victim from Kibera, a massive slum of the capital city of Nairobi. Sarah's abortion was performed by a friend of a friend because the hospital refused to perform the procedure. Predictably, an infection set in, but she didn't go to the hospital because she was afraid of being arrested. Sarah spent her final month at home, bedridden and in pain. She died on June 29, 2009.

You may be correct, but it's my belief you can support a democratic and civil process without throwing money at the problem.

So the murder of unborn infants was illegal, and now it is permissible in some instances.

    What a leap forward.

Sub-Saharan Africa is a region where patronage politics play a big role. Getting people to support the country's system(whether it's democratic, authoritarian) is dependent on the improvements you make to the living conditions of the group you're speaking of. It's no different than US politics only it's even more overt in Africa. I didn't care when Bush gave Africa/Asian or Latin America money in order to help democracies function. I don't care about it now. It's in the global best interest as well as our own.

So you don't think abortion is right even if it saves the life of the mother? How is that "pro-life"

Seriously, we were spending money trying to help the people of Kenya, get power away from the government and put it in the peoples hands. And your mad? Good grief.

If Obama had an R next to his name, instead of a D you'd be praising this.

Lmao. My wife had an abortion. I ate the fetus with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

How can someone be for abortion in some cases, and against abortion in others?

If I'm against abortion, that's because I believe that an unborn baby is a human being, and that terminating an unborn baby is killing another human being.

The life of the baby and the life of the mother are equal in my mind.
