Janet Howell, Virginia State Senator, Attaches Rectal Exam Amendment To Anti-Abortion

Re: Janet Howell, Virginia State Senator, Attaches Rectal Exam Amendment To Anti-Abor

Seems to me she made her point quite successfully. If she just stood up and pointed out that the bill is an affront to a woman's personal liberty, and interferes with her medical treatment -- as scores of other legislators have done all over the country -- no one would be talking about it.

Re: Janet Howell, Virginia State Senator, Attaches Rectal Exam Amendment To Anti-Abor

Perhaps if someone didn't do something even more ridiculous than what the original bill is...because at least the original bill is being put forth by people honestly supporting it and honestly representing their constituents rather than this piss poor excuse for political discourse that this woman put out...and the bill was posted about I would say something about it. However, much like other instances...when someone does something so ****ing stupid you sometimes have to go after that before you can even get to the thing they were being stupid about. This is the same kind of thing as having to rant about someone calling Obama a socialist when criticizing one of his policies...yeah, the policies bad, but you gotta deal with the idiocy first. Yeah, requiring this kind of thing is stupid...but before I can rant about that we have to deal with this stupid bitch wasting tax payer, including mine as a VA resident, time and money with this idiotic and ridiculous joke of an amendment aimed at forcefully penetrating males.

The woman is stupid as ****. She, or you, wants to the bill she's protesting to be addressed and to be treated like a ****ing adult...then how about she actually address it like a reasonable adult politician rather than making ignorant inaccurate comments and throwing forward juvinile joke amendments to try and make a point.

What you are not seeing is she has actually achieved what she set out to do, which is not have dudes "penetrated", but to draw attention to a retarded ****ing bill. It's amazing how much attention the threat of guys having to put up with **** gets, and how easy it is making bills to force women to do **** is. Hell, her amendment is actually more on target than the bill itself, since there is at least some justification for those procedures before giving out ED meds, while there is no medical justification for the bill itself. So the state legislature found out that if you are going to ****ing harass people, they might harass back.

Thousands of amendments to bills every year for stupid reasons, but good lord look at the convenient outrage for this one...

Re: Janet Howell, Virginia State Senator, Attaches Rectal Exam Amendment To Anti-Abor

Address what? Some supporter of child killing thinks abortion is worth mocking? No thanks. I prefer to mock those that can find humor in slaughtering innocent human beings for no other reason then "convenience" for selfish people.

I think, whether you are pro-choice or pro-life, this was a ridiculous law to start with. Seems like this politician was just trying to point that out. Whether it is legal or illegal, it shouldn't require a person to undergo an unnecessary medical procedure.

Re: Janet Howell, Virginia State Senator, Attaches Rectal Exam Amendment To Anti-Abor

Gotcha, so her point was to actually cause voters that didn't know much about her to actively decide to vote against her in the following election and convince others to do the same.

Well, amazing political strategy that. Happy to hear she's "actually achieved what she set out to do".

Strangely enough, I actually disagree with the law. While I'm not a fan of abortion and would prefer it banned in my state in most cases rather than allowed, forcing women to undergo an additional uncessary and costly test for emotional, not medical, reasons is ridiculous and is not the role of the state imho. However, rather than coming out and actually ridiculing the bill or raise attention to it in any kind of reasonable way she's instead decided to go the route of a publicity stunt. Congratulations to her, I'm sure it'll win her over all kinds of support by those who already support her. However if her intent was to actually convince those who are more moderate or undecided on the issue to actually make some noise and oppose the bill, well...with at least one person she failed miserably due to her idiocy.

Re: Janet Howell, Virginia State Senator, Attaches Rectal Exam Amendment To Anti-Abor

She can't pass a law that says men must carry the baby to term. I'd explain to you why, but it gets in depth and it's really a discussion you should have with your family first...

If you're against abortion, I understand that, but whining about how the woman, that actually has to carry to term and give birth, is the one that gets to make the decision is silly.

I'm not. You miss the point entirely. Women have an "out" for an unwanted child. Men do not. This is inequality on a grand scale no?

No. It is not a grand inequality. It is only a difference.

Re: Janet Howell, Virginia State Senator, Attaches Rectal Exam Amendment To Anti-Abor

Sorry Zyphlin, but if you want to make a bill to to force women to have an unnecessary medical procedure done just to be ****ing pricks, then there is exactly nothing wrong with attaching equally ****ing ridiculous amendments to it. Go ahead and vent to some one making a point about a group of ****ing people trying to make it harder for women to do something they have every legal right to do in this country just so they can feel ****ing good about themselves. You want to rant about something, rant about people who think bull**** like this bill is a good idea.

Do you know why the ulstrasound is required?

Have you bothered to read the reaction of women that have seen their own child, the life they have inside...

You claim it's about choice, and being "forced" to do something horrible... Yes, seeing what you are about to kill is awful! Just so mean. Who gives a **** about the kid?

Besides, despite your... complaints a Federal Court has ll ready ruled this type of law is quite legal:

I didn't realize that you had a constituency!

I believe her purpose was to rally opponents of these ****tarded sorts of bills, and I'm guessing that she was quite successful in that regard. I suspect that she did not imagine that anti-abortion folks would change their minds. Patently unreasonable bills like the one in question are not susceptible to attack on reasonableness grounds. You just have to draw attention to haw ****ed up they are and hope that enough right-thinking folks will get involved.

Do you really think you would have called your representative to object to the bill if she's just stood up and gave a little speech? If she had done that I doubt you would ever hear about it.

Ah, a Catholic news site? Well that's certainly objective.:lamo

Re: Janet Howell, Virginia State Senator, Attaches Rectal Exam Amendment To Anti-Abor

No. It is not a grand inequality. It is only a difference.

Man and woman meet, have consensual sex.

Woman gets pregnant.

Here are the possible results:
They want the baby. Everyone wins.

She wants, he doesn't. She wins, baby wins. He pays CS for 18+ years for a child he doesn't want.

She doesn't want, He does. She wins.

They or she decide for adoption. Baby wins.

Do you see the issue here? I'm not out to force anyone to "carry to term", but I do think its BS men have no Post conception say in their futures.

No, her point is to draw attention to a very ****ty bill. Nice spin, but it ain't flying.

Yes, I do know why it is done, to harrass women who want to have an abortion. If you where required by law to go through an unneccessary medical procedure to do anything, you would be crying louder than any one around. But you are perfectly ok with this form of harrassment.

It does seem like this is becoming a pretty common grandstanding technique. I was reading another thread where a GOP bill in Indiana which would have required welfare recipients to submit to drug screens was killed after the democrats ammended it to require everyone who takes any public money to be drug screened (including elected legislators).

It is just another ridiculous political tactic. The only issue with the ultrasound law was that the original law was just as ridiculous as the counter tactic.

I'm glad that you agree.

Wait... I get to pull a "Redress" here!

I draw all of your attention here to this thread: http://www.debatepolitics.com/us-pa...cal-platforms/118055-snap.html#post1060162566 Note please how Redress applauds educating people on, in this case, availability of Food Stamps.

Now, look at this thread, here we have a law that will help educate women on the choice they are about to make.

When it's Government Giveaway programs, Education is GOOD. When it's a matter of something significant, like murdering an unborn child... it's "harassment".

Too bad Redress, for you, the Courts do not agree that this is "harassment", but rather "education".

Re: Janet Howell, Virginia State Senator, Attaches Rectal Exam Amendment To Anti-Abor

No, it's not. It's nature. You arguing that a man should get a say in what happens to a womans body on the count of what's "fair" is the same as a woman arguing that all men should have shots that increase estrogen levels and decrease their testosterone levels so that women have a fair shot at men's sports.

Women are the ones that can have babies. Regardless of how unfair you think that is, it can't be changed, and the only solution would be forcing a woman to do something with her body against her will, so it's a completely pointless thing to argue in the first place. You can't tell her what to do with her body in the same way that she can't tell you what to do with yours. Sounds fair to me.

You realize there's a different between the government educating people, through the use of government money, about a program the government offers and the government "educating women" about a personal choice they are going to make through forcing them to spend their own money?

When the government forces people to buy something, that's bad! ...... unless its something we want them to make the mpurchase, then its good!

By the way....for it to be "murder" it would need to be illegal. There is no "murder" occuring. You could state there is a killing going on, but for it to be murder it'd need to be unlawful.

Yes, because killing unborn innocent children is funny. And Conservatives get labeled as heartless again how?

it is funny and comical to those who are pro-choice/abortion. Bottom line…..they are compassionless and cold hearted. They would not want any women to see what she was killing. And God forbid if that unborn was sucking a thumb…or moving….the woman might change her mind. And wow…..then PP would not make as much money. They love killing….the blood is on their hands.

Could you tell me what Scott Peterson was convicted of? What was the sentence?

No really, you think offering more information about a government program is the same as forcing some one to get an unnecessary medical procedure? Really?

Come on, at least try a little bit. This is just sad.

No, I don't wonder it at all when people who are in favor of big government question me about my conservative credentials. I laugh about the irony of the fact that because I don't let one particluar branch of conservatism overrule the other branches they want to question my ideology.

Yeah, the government forcing women to undergo an additional procedure, at their expense, to undergo a legal activity that some people feel is morrally wrong may be socially conservative...but there's no way in hell that squares with the conservative principles of limited government, individual freedom, and consumer freedom.

No Mr V...people like YOU questioning my conservatism never makes me wonder why or question myself. It make me laugh.

FactCheck.org : Planned Parenthood

Yes, because there entire business is run on the concept of encouraging abortions, even though abortions account for only 3% of the services administered by planned parenthood in 2009.

Don't let those facts get in the way o your rage though, lol.
