It's just as hypocritical for Gingrich apologists to point to Clinton and say it's okay for Gingrich to be a philandering cheater because Clinton was.
I don't know about in this thread, but there are plenty of left wing hacks who though Clinton had done no wrong but now gleefully revel in revelations about Newt's affairs. I wouldn't be surprised if there are folks in this thread who qualify, but I'm not interested enough to go digging through people's post history to confirm that. Let's just say such people exist and they're not hard to find.

As far Newt's supporters being hypocritical, yeah that certainly applies as well. If you tried to crucify Clinton over Gennifer Flowers back in 92, then the same standard should apply to Newt today.

I suggest you ask your parents, or your minister, or someone whom you look to for ethical guidance. "Not difficult questions", as you say. But what is troubling is that you feel a need to ask them, and I believe any of those recommendations may help you better with that.

    Best of luck.

I explain why talking about Clinton or his supporters is completely pointless, and you respond by doing it some more.

Which family values is he campaigning on? I have seen several quotes and articles (I can go to HuPo and other liberal sites too) and see all the comments about 'family values' but Im not seeing the facts regarding Gingrich running on 'family values'. Can you expound? I mean...I know thats your schtick...you paint all republicans as running on family values when it is some and certainly not all. And of course...you and I have had the discussion about the difference between republicans that make family values a front page issue and judgmental little pricks that make the same assumptions about ALL republicans...so...Im curious. What are the 'family values' that Gingrich is running on?

I'm not asking for guidance, I want to know what YOU think.

And the fact that you continue to dodge the question - the absolute central question to this thread - says an awful lot.

"Not difficult questions", as you say.
Yes, and you continue to dodge them. I wonder why.

Gingrich made a speech bashing liberals about "family values" the day after he told Marriane he was dumping her. She mentions the incident in her interview.

Not in the least. Bring Clinton back tomorrow...I'll sign the petition. I dont really care about the affairs of a person, I care about their ability to lead. Clinton was a scumbag...had the morals of a...well...a politician. But he was a good president. I highly doubt Romney has had an affair...but I wouldnt vote for him on a bet.

In politics Im not looking for a saint or a confessor. Im looking for a leader.

And Im really curious about how well some of the folks here would stand up to a purity test.

I am fine with exposing libs who play that card as well. Most are smart enough not to however.
As Cons are fine playing the hypocrisy card on liberals. Its an easy play.

It is not the Cons here telling the liberals what they should think. Quite the opposite. It is the liberals trying to convince the Cons as to what they can think.

The position within Republicans is that we are quite capable of making the rational choice. Current, and or past, indiscretions by a candidate are likely weighed differently by every single voter. If you want to disagree with our choice, such is fine. But to then take the role of uber-hypocrit, and attempt to lecture on hypocrisy is ... well... comically hypocritical.

    But keep 'em coming Shelly

Can you show any of us where Clinton, the candidate, acknowledged his earlier transgressions ? Asked for forgiveness while a candidate ? Made any affirmation that he had sought redemption, and changed his ways, while as a candidate ?

What I see is that after '92, Clinton was still thinking with his little head.

LOL .... well, maybe your "explanation" wasn't very good, and you need to try again.
