As you can plainly see, the unions DID agree to large monetary concessions, and officially backed the budgetary provisions in Walker's bill.
That's not what was stated Dan, be honest, it's your thread after all. The Unions agreed to SOME of the budgetary demands... but the big ones were raises, benefits and other long term issues that caused the fiscal mess they are in now, from your source:

The details of Governor Walker’s proposal include prohibiting collective bargaining for issues beyond wages, limiting pay raises to a certain level without approval by public referendum, exempting employees from paying union dues and requiring unions to hold annual votes on whether they should remain in existence.
Compromise legislation being promoted by a moderate Republican that would put a two-year sunset clause on the collective-bargaining restrictions was rebuffed by both parties. Governor Walker said that part of the reason for the fiscal challenges was that previous governors and legislatures pushed fiscal problems down the road with short-term fixes.
This entire affair is about UNION POWER, not rights.
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

In Scott Walker recall, Wisconsin Dems tout 1 million recall signatures

Organizers behind the recall of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker collected 1 million signatures to be submitted to the state’s Government Accountability Board on Tuesday, dwarfing the required number of names and virtually ensuring that a recall election will take place later this year. <snip>

The Republican Governors Association quickly came to Walker’s defense on Tuesday, announcing the launch of Stand With Scott - A project of the Republican Governor's Association — a website dedicated to promoting the governor’s policies and accomplishments.

Even when he is losing he is winning. Imagine how much out of state money will be flowing into Walker's pockets? Every whackjob Limbaughnaut in America will be sending this guy their cash to "help" him fight the will of the people.

    Stay tuned.....

Re: In Scott Walker recall, Wisconsin Dems tout 1 million recall signatures

The ability of Wisconsinites to secure enough signatures for recall was predictable. But presumably the easy part is over. They must find a candidate who is electable and the article is somewhat mum on who this would be. However this works out it will be incredibly expensive but could be an economic boon for the state as, notwithstanding union and GOP monies, I’m sure the media will spend TONS of money reporting on every batted eye and smelly fart.

I hope they get what they want not what they asked for.

The vote will be interesting since it will include the people who voted for him and not just the ones who didn't like the outcome.

I think it will be a case of "Anybody but Walker." Walker is about as popular in Wisconsin as Obama is in Texas. LOL!

Not only did they get enough signatures to force a recall election on Gov. Walker, also the Lt. Gov. and four Republican senators.
