Judges again rule for Democratic group in redistricting case

Madison - In a scathing ruling, a three-judge panel decided for the third time Tuesday that a Democratic group has a right to an array of information on how Republican lawmakers drew new legislative districts.

Recall is not the only thing that is happening in Wisconsin. A ruling by a Court of Appeals in Wisconsin has blasted the Republicans there for hiding from the public information on how they drew up districts during the redistricting process. People claim that there is proof that the redistricting was done by special interests, and then the new map was rubber stamped by Wisconsin's Republican legislature. In addition to ordering this information released, the Appeals Court also found Wisconsin's government guilty of filing frivolous lawsuits in order to prevent the release of this information to the public, and has ordered the defendants to pay ALL legal costs of the plaintiffs.

This decision now goes to Wisconsin's Supreme Court, and there is something to note here: At least one Justice, Michael Gableman, has received free legal services in the past from the very same lawyers representing the defendants in this case, and he is being asked to either recuse himself from this case, or else join the growing list of public figures who are being recalled, which now includes the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, The Senate President, 3 other Senators, and one Mayor.

This case is going to be just as important to all parties in Wisconsin as the recall itself, and both sides are going to fight tooth and nail, in what will eventually be known as ground zero in the 2012 elections. Whichever side wins in this case, as well as the recalls, will gain a large amount of momentum heading into November.

I think that the Dems are trying to change the rules when they are out of power. em8819

Perhaps, though the change might be intended merely to go back to a previous and more fair state which was altered so that the Republicans could gain power, when they otherwise could not.

Are you seriously defending gaming of the electoral system? Redistricting exists to adjust for population changes, not to stack the deck in favor of a party.

Isn't this done every time a census is done.... and is controlled by the party in power in a particular area during that time?
