Hate to bring logic into the discussion here, but he was apparently fired from Paul's campaign, then challenged Paul for his seat in 2007 as you can see here: Eric Dondero Rittberg | Ron Paul | | The Daily Caller. He also happened to lose handily, which may or may not explain his bitterness depending on your perspective.
