brutal suicide in near my home: woman jumps out of SUV on I-75 in Cincinnati area

I have often called one of my siblings bat-**** crazy because she is. Doesn't mean that I don't understand mental illness. Trust me, I do. Ya, some people are "nutcases," and sorry if that offends any delicate sensibilities exquisitely fine-tuned on the political correctness dial.

There are many reasons for suicide. One is being really drunk. Another is to punish others. Sometimes suicide is a supremely selfish and narcissistic act, and I don't see anything wrong with saying so.

If Kali knew my stepson, she'd agree that he was a nutcase. She'd be like, "Dang, she was right." :2razz:

I wish your siblings were here to give us something to talk about. I am well aware of the fact that there are many reasons for suicide-never said there was NOT!

I would gather that having a total bitch of a sibling could drive a person to it. Esp if they were a closed-minded Conservative.Sorry if that hurts some delicate sensibilities.

Very sad especially for the husband who has to bring those kids up alone, nothing more selfish than suicide

i would agree this applies to people like that fool who flew his plane into the irs building in texas, but there are those who cant think clear enough to imagine the aftermath of their decision.

i suspect many manic depressant(bipolar) people arent identified until its too late. they hear voices, noises, compile conclusions from things that just arent real(kinda like glen beck)..
how can you expect someone like that to know where the proverbial "line in the sand" is?

A woman jumped from her SUV driven by her husband and containing her kids on I-75 just a few miles from where we were today. We were on our way home (Northbound) and heard that the highway was shut down a mile south of where we were but no one reported at the time why. The local news just reported what actually happened.

I have always heard that suicides are at their highest this time of the year but its usually people who are alone with no family

I can imagine that an overly demanding, neglectful, and abusive husband would drive a woman to such desperation. That, coupled with sleep deprivation would be a classic trigger for suicide. She must have been under such stress that she saw no light at the end of her tunnel. What is so scary about death?

Why is it the husband's fault? Maybe she just didn't like her life. Seriously, it's not that rare to find an ungrateful partner who enjoys all the luxuries you have to offer and still finds something to complain about.

It could have been worse.

If she had jumped out on I-75 at Detroit, thieves would have stripped all the jewelry from her body, and taken her purse and all her money within seconds.

If she had jumped out in New Jersey, all the other drivers would have given her the middle finger, cursed her, and called her a road hog.

If she had jumped out in San Francisco, the other drivers would have said "Look at that. Far out".

In Texas, had she jumped out, the Department of Highways would have used her for a road bump.

What about other cities? Anybody have any ideas?

It's not so much that the idea of death is scary, it's just that most people prefer to live. It's strongly instinctive in most of us, and most other creatures.

what a great holiday for those kids and their father. maybe the information will come to light as to why this happened but that woman sure must have hated her children to do something like this

Having had some pretty significant experience with suicides, my guess is that she didn't hate her children, but hated herself, and probably was not thinking rationally at all.

extremely fast reflexes for a 52 year old (at 20 I had the fastest reaction time [tested by hitting a button when you saw a light] of any athlete tested that year at the USOTC at Colorado springs)

It must be nice to be perfect in every way.

My father would always get very crazy around christmas time. Sometimes depressed, other times just simply crazy or manic. but he killed himself during the middle of the summer.

One of my son's best friends brother died in a similar way. His mental issues had recently escalated to the point where his parents couldn't control him. He spent a few days in the local mental hospital ward, but it was decided that he needed to be in an environment where he couldn't escape as easily. They were transporting him in the back of an ambullance, on the way to our state insane asilum, and he somehow got loose from the restrainsts, overpowered the attendant, and jumped out the back door of the abulance. he was hit by multiple cars and died. We have no idea if it was suicide, or if he thought he could survive.

My son's friend, hasn't been quite right since then, but I suspect that he has just a touch of whatever his brother had.
