Polifact is taking alot of heat for Saying that the Lie of the year was democrats saying the Ryan plan ended medicare.

We got an avalanche of criticism for our Lie of the Year selection -- a Democratic claim that the Republicans voted to end Medicare. Of roughly 1,500 e-mails we received, nearly all criticized our choice.

I personally disagree with thier choice myself as being lie of the year...if you read some of the emails there are some very passionate about it..

That's pretty funny, cause normally conservatives are calling Politifact biased.

Thats why I posted it...alot of conservatives will disregard anything from Politifact..

I didn't even know that the democrats had made such a claim. I'm pretty sure that Michelle Bachman rewriting US history so she could claim that the founders worked to end slavery is a bigger lie but meh. The size of a lie is subjective.

I'd agree but it didn't make long term headlines, iirc.
Mostly because people consider Bachmann to be a raving lunatic, as it is.

Then again the Ryan lie didn't either.

Not sure I'm call that the number 1 lie too.

THe democrats did make the claim...but theres validity in it...Ryans plan did change medicare for anyone under 55 totally.
He claimed there was no change to anyone 55 or older..but right in his plan 10 yrs from that date a copay started that was up to 300,00 per person and rose yearly as costs go up...right when 55 yr olds became eligible for medicare...and there was a candy store of tax cuts for the rich included in ryans bill...I disagree with that being biggest lie of the year

politifact, factcheck.org, and factchecker all declared the "voted to end medicare" statement by Democrats to be false.. and all voted for it to be named one of the biggest lies of the year.

fact checker sites are a bit odd.. they are loved when they make the other side look bad, and hated when they make your side look bad..... which means they are probably doing their jobs correctly.

instead of whining about the sites that declare your side to be throwing falsehoods out there, whine to your party and tell them not to lie...
not lying has a funny habit of precluding you from being called a liar

Alot of truth in what you said...its great when they say the other side lies, when they say you do all hell breaks loose....
My beef wasnt that they declared it a lie...I dont think ryans plan was on the up an up and because of that it shouldnt have been included..

What the **** happened to their liberal bias? What am I going to get my panties in a wad over now?

It's a semantics issue. The Conservatives wanted to gut Medicare but still call it by the name "Medicare" and the Dems maintain that if it is gutted it would no longer be Medicare. That is the reality behind the issue. Ya' knows what I mean. Like stop paying any Social Security but still call it Social Security because people are issued a card saying they are eligible for any payments that don't happen anymore. I think Yosarian would have loved it.
