As of Sunday morning volunteers for the campaign to recall Sen. Van Wanggaard of the 21st district have collected at least 16,000 petition signatures, more than the 15,500 that would make him eligible for recall.

And the signatures were collected in only half the time. 1 Senator down and 4 to go. In addition, it looks like the Walker recall has already obtained the number of signatures needed to recall him. They are not stopping either. In all cases, the goal is to collect twice the number of signatures needed, so that there is no question at all about bad signatures.

Article is here.

In other news, 2 men who spit on recall workers have been arrested. A man who grabbed a petition out of a recall worker's hand and ripped it in half has been arrested. A man who destroyed recall signs has been arrested. A man who threatened the life of a recall worker and destroyed the camera of another worker who was taking a video of him making his threats has been arrested. A woman who threw a rock at a recall worker has been arrested. A man who drove his car onto the sidewalk to threaten and intimidate a recall worker has been arrested. A man who grabbed a recall petition and scribbled on it, thus destroying it, has been arrested. A woman who stole recall yard signs has been arrested. And you can bet that, as the signature gathering continues, there will be more thugs attempting to commit more acts of violence against recall workers. All of these people will be going to prison. Interfering with elections is a serious crime in Wisconsin that carries a minimum 3 year sentence, and longer sentences if assault was involved. Some assholes never learn, so let them do lots of time for their crimes. They don't belong in a civil society. Once they complete their sentences, I have a suggestion. Let them be sent to a country that is more in line with their political philosophy - Iran.

That's a whole lot of attempted recall interference. Pretty ridiculous and quite telling.

BTW, got a link for all of these arrests?

Damn, you would think that, with all the thugs being arrested and sent to jail, Walker supporters would get the message. Guess not. Here's another woman going to jail for spitting on a recall worker. Good. Let her learn the hard way. And when she finally serves her time, she can deal with a lawsuit on top of it.

Spitting someone gets ya sent to jail...lame.

Edit: Knew I should have read the link first. She's being cited for disorderly conduct...no doubt due to her tipping over the table with the recall papers on it. That at least is understandable.

Now, question for ya Danarhea...why didn't you mention that instead of just the spitting?

Read the damn headline, and read the article.

Read the headline, read the article. Headline is obviously hype. Which you fell for hook, line, and sinker. The article however shows that she tipped over and threw that table that these guys were using into the street. That is obviously what got her arrested.

'Ya think? 'Ya thought wrong. Although overturning the table contributed to the arrest, spitting alone would have done the same thing. Here is a case in point. One of my previous claims that you questioned my honesty on is to an article in which 2 men spit on a recall worker. That ALONE got them arrested. Here is the link. Of course, you can think all you want that spitting is nothing, but the fact is that it is an assault. However, the main difference between recall workers who get spit upon by buttheads and myself is that I would not have called the police. Someone spit on me about 25 years ago, and he ended up in the emergency room.

Sheesh, here's another one. Another guy who thinks he can destroy petitions, and not end up charged with a crime. And, to say the least, his effort at thwarting Democracy in Wisconsin is fruitless, since recall workers will have turned in almost twice the number of signatures required to recall Walker.

I know that people can be arrested for spitting on people. I just said that it was lame. Never disagreed with that part. Where I disagreed with is you posting a link that shows there were other factors at play also...not just the spitting. Focusing on the spitting is imo just childish hype.

And I would certainly hope that after 25 years you would have learned to turn the other cheek. Spitting at someone is childish and doesn't even deserve a response imo. If anything the response of these petitioners about being spitted on should be looked at. Before all this Walker brewhaha started when was the last time that you heard about people being arrested for spitting at someone? And now suddenly its happening left and right? My guess is that they are calling the cops in order to get these people arrested as they know that if those people are still in jail come re-election time that will be less people voting for Walker.

Again, you claim that spitting is lame, but it IS assault. Just between you and me, I think the recall workers in this case are ******s. They should have kicked his ass so hard it would take weeks to recover. They would not have been arrested for defending themselves from an assault either. And to answer your claim that calling the cops would result in less people voting for Walker? That's laughable. They are calling the cops because they are being threatened AND ASSAULTED.

Seriously, suppose someone walked up to you and spit on you. What would YOU do? Be honest.

I'll give those collecting signatures a page from the Vietnam playbook to protect themselves from violence. Fill a child's water pistol with 1/2 water and 1/2 ammonia. Very effective at stopping thugs and does no permanent damage. After all, it's only a cleaning supply.

A battery is the unlawful touching the person of another by the aggressor himself, or any other substance put in motion by him. It must be either wilfully committed, or proceed from want of due care. Hence an injury, be it never so small, done to the person of another, in an angry, spiteful, rude or insolent manner, as by spitting in his face, or any way touching him in anger, or violently jostling him, are batteries in the eye of the law. And any thing attached to the person partakes of its inviolability if, therefore, A strikes a cane in the hands of B, it is a battery.

From this link

Assault is spitting at someone, but missing. Battery is spitting at someone, and hitting him with the spittle.

In Texas, you can shoot someone who spits at you, due to an interpretation of the law that gives you the right to do so if you are afraid that the spitter might have aids, even though there is almost no aids virus in spittle. Me? I'd just kick his ass, and if I lost the fight, THEN I would call the cops. After all, I would be defending myself from an assault, and I DO have the right to defend myself. If I get my ass kicked in the process, the perp would end up with even more jail time, since it was he that initiated the first assault, thus forcing me to defend my person. Lucky for me, I won the only fight I ever had that resulted from someone spitting on me. I wasn't arrested either, but the guy whose ass I beat ended up in court. He also had to go to the emergency room to treat a few facial injuries.

Because it is lame. To answer your question I would prolly insult them. I would not call the cops and I wouldn't hit them for spitting on me. Know why? Because I am an adult that is able to recognize that doing either is calling more attention to idiots than is needed. Now why don't you answer my question? Before all this Walker brewhaha how often did you hear about people being arrested for spitting at someone?

You can quote the law books about spitting being assault at me all that you want. It won't change my opinion of the matter.

I agree a jaw broken in two places is alot more a deterrent never to spit on me again than a mere arrest
