Members of Richmond Tea Party and Occupy Richmond meet to discuss common causes

Kadrich summarized a few things the two movements could agree on: that the common citizen is no longer represented by his elected officials; that holding political office tends to corrupt even well-intended people; and that political parties are taking advantage of voters by seeking to polarize issues that really are of minimal consequence.

Now this is what I've been calling for and more of what we need as opposed to trying to block people from doing their job.

I promise that myriad crisis management plans are being developed and implemented to keep this from happening.

That has been my biggest issue with the OWS protests....taking direct and specific action that prevents employees from working, regardless of the motivation or expected outcome. I'd much rather they found more productive means of protesting and inacting change that wouldn't also punish workers directly.

Well now I have to go up to Richmond and stop this. Who are these people thinking they can work together from different political leans. The nerve.

I have been predicting stuff like this ever since OWS started, because there is common ground between them and the tea party on a number of issues. I believe that meetings like this will take place in a number of states. Won't happen in Texas, though:

    Imagine that...

Two "parties" that started out sighting differences from opposite ends of the political divide somehow "find common ground" on issues both sides agree on. Now, if only we could get Democrats and Republicans in Congress to do that we'd be in business.

    Outlandish, yet role models none-the-less.

This is a great thing. I wish I had more support for either platform, but I think they have a lot to gain from working together. It's a small group, but it's possible the idea will grow.
