Vienna is the best place in the world to live

According to the 2011 Mercer Quality of Living survey, the best place in the world to live is Vienna, Austria. I've only spent a few days there, but I can definitely understand their ranking it so highly. I'm hoping to go back soon. Their top 10 list was:

    1. Vienna, Austria
    2. Zurich, Switzerland
    3. Auckland, New Zealand
    4. Munich, Germany
    5. Dusseldorf, Germany
    6. Vancouver, Canada
    7. Frankfurt, Germany
    8. Geneva, Switzerland
    9. Bern, Switzerland
    9. Copenhagen, Denmark

Several American cities made it on to their list too. According to Mercer, the US cities with the highest quality of life were Honolulu (#29), San Francisco (#30), Boston (#36), Chicago (#43), Washington (#43), New York (#47), and Pittsburgh (#49).

What do you think of their list? Are there any cities that didn't make the list that you think should have?
    Are you coming to bed?
    I can't. This is important.

Having lived in Vancouver I disagree, I absolutely hate that city. I really hope I never have to live there again.

Hopefully at some point next year I'll be living or at least visiting Auckland

I've been to Vienna. Beautiful city. Also half of the other cities on that list. All nice places to visit if you want a cultural experience. Idk about living there though, but many places in central/western Europe and Scandinavia are beautiful places.

Nobody who wins a war indulges in a bifurcated definition of victory. War is a political act; victory and defeat have meaning only in political terms. A country incapable of achieving its political objectives at an acceptable cost is losing the war, regardless of battlefield events.

Bifurcating victory (e.g. winning militarily, losing politically) is a useful salve for defeated armies. The "stab in the back" narrative helped take the sting out of failure for German generals after WWI and their American counterparts after Vietnam.

All the same, it's nonsense. To paraphrase Vince Lombardi, show me a political loser, and I'll show you a loser.

    pretty fair list

agree that vancouver is the foremost city in north America
surprised that pittsburg rated while buenos aires and dublin did not ... pittsburg but not austin?
no USA city south of DC rated
and notably, no USA city made the 50 safest locales

I suppose its all a matter of opinion. Personally no city could possibly be the best place to live.

There is no way Sydney is better than Melbourne.
