Today, the Virginia Senate took a firm stand in support of liberty, the Constitution for the United States, and the Constitution of Virginia by voting in favor of House Bill 1160 (HB1160), the “NDAA Nullification Act.”

    The final vote was 39-1.

After a motion to recommit (delay until next year) went down to the wire before being rejected yesterday (report here), groups across the political spectrum activated in support of the legislation, which codifies in law that no agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia – including defense forces and national guard troops, will comply with or assist the federal government in any way under it’s newly claimed powers to arrest and detain without due process.

I'm actually really impressed. Normally Virginia is home to the most screwed up legislation in the country. Crazy that they actually seem to care about civil rights this time.

So, I haven't been keeping up -- someone tell me how many U.S. citizens have been swept up so far by the authorizations in this bill?

Just because we don't know of any happening doesn't mean that it A: hasn't or B: won't be used some time in the future.

You can say this all that you want. But you cannot honestly deny that there is a possibility. Its not like our government has a clean reputable history of always doing the right thing.

I applaude this new idea that the front line is now here in our front yard. This "war" today resembles nothing previous therefore should be waged accordingly. Our constitution supports martial law when required and so there is no room here for discussion. Pass this and live with it. Two recent examples of this "New America" are the airline episodes of a stewardess and now a pilot going beserk on the plane. Instead of sitting back and waiting for an authority figure vigilanties took control and saved the situation from becoming tragic. Private gun ownership is soaring now as we know it may be our next door neighbor plotting to act against us. On 9-11-01 it was said "we are forever changed" and more laws are in effect and we are urged to turn in any person appearing to be suspicious. Your best freinds would turn you in to the military if they thought you were a clear and persent danger and you know it. Welcome to the future!!

This bill created for the coming war on Iran, I think. It is used to deal with anti-war people.

On May 1, 2001, news released "Operation Northwoods". You also could have asked the similar question then. Nobody knew it was used to justify the 911 terror attack four months later.
