Grab a bunch of habaneros and grind them up and rub them in your eyes, nose and mouth (and get a little in your lungs if you can) and tell me how many minutes it takes you to recover. Then keep in mind that habaneros cap out at around 350,000 scoville units - while police pepper spray is around 5.3 million scoville units.

Please do this and then report back to me how quickly you get over it.
    I don't have any on-hand.

Of course being peppered is unpleasant. If it were refreshing it would not be a deterrent. Brutal? I'm pretty sure I would prefer it to a knock on the head or a separated shoulder. And if I ever choose to defy a cop, I hope I won't piss and moan about the consequences later.

Yes, generally when I am afraid of a crowd my reaction is to walk as slow as possible, have a saddened look on my face, and look around in awe. That's a normal reaction. Let's state the facts, and then decide:

    1) She stayed inside because she was afraid of the crowd reaction
    2) When she got outside no one said anything, the crowd was quiet and did not move
    3) She walked very slowly through the crowd
    4) The question was asked, "Chancellor, do you still feel threatened by the students", and she responded, "No...[shaking head] no".

She was clearly very calm. Are we watching the same video? I don't know if it is shame, guilt, awe, or what, but she was clearly not fearful at that moment. If you see something else, please point it out in the video. And please, no one is impressed that you have a gun. I couldn't give less of a **** and it doesn't scare me either.

I see you amended your comment in a later post to say you'd have 35 of your friends with you. In that case, I might agree with you -- if they were all carryin' automatic weapons.

I watched the whole thing. They were both afraid. I don't care what she said.

For their life? Please show why you think this. Afraid for their reputation? I'd agree with that.

Given how displeased the mob was with her, and its size, anyone would be intimidated.... especially given that OWS has more than a little history of violent or criminal acts perpetrated by some members.

This is mob intimidation. Having several hundred people displeased with you enough to sit around for hours waiting for your appearance just so they can give you the silent treatment has to make you realize how easy it would be for that mob to tear you to pieces if they so chose.

Okay, so they didn't choose to be violent today, how lovely... that's no guarantor of her safety.

I know what fear body language looks like, and she was scared.

you find the sight of hundreds of college kids sitting silently & peacefully along a pathway, to be "mob intimidation"?

Oh ok. Glad to know where you stand.

    1) If they yell and scream then clearly they are violent
    2) If they act violently then obviously they are violent
    3) If they sit down and hold hands it implies they could get violent
    4) If they sit down in silence, then it is "mob mentality" and definitely hints at violence

Good to have you here, Goshin. Also good to know you support the right to peaceful assembly. Of course, when you ask her directly and she says, "no", well, she's just wrong or lying.

if college-kids sitting peacefully & quietly along a pathway is a form of "mob intimidation", then what form of protest is acceptable?
