Man Found Dead in Occupy Salt Lake City Tent | TheBlaze.com

SALT LAKE CITY (The Blaze/AP) — Authorities say a man in his 40s has been found dead inside his tent at a Salt Lake City park where Occupy protesters have been camping.

The police chief has ordered all protesters to leave the park.
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, a police dispatcher said a 911 call from the park came in at 10:11 a.m. local time that someone appeared to be dead in a tent. Police arrived and confirmed the man had died.
Salt Lake City police said he was identified as a member of the Occupy group, but his name has not been released.
A medical examiner was on the way to the scene. A cause of death was not immediately available, but police said it does not appear to be foul play and could be weather-related, according to the Tribune.
The protesters, along with a group of homeless people, have been camping in Salt Lake City’s Pioneer Park for weeks.
This is the third death to hit the Occupy Wall Street movement in less than 24 hours: A man died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at the Occupy Burlington encampment in Vermont Thursday afternoon, and another man was shot dead near the Occupy Oakland encampment Thursday night.
This is a breaking news story, updates will be added as they come in.

This is really sad. I hope these protesters are respectful of the police and leave the park. :(

Actually, I would prefer it if they would find ways to provide heat for themselves if they wish to continue to stay out there. Many people aren't prepared for what cold nights outdoors can do to you quite easily.

They cannot stay at that park anymore, but they might find a different place. The updated article says it might have been carbon monoxide or drugs or the weather...

the blaze is using this death for political purposes, IMO. :(

Okay so one guy is found dead, another commits suicide and a 3rd is found dead outside of the encampment and this is reason to leave... because....?

Because the sub-standard living conditions are creating a dangerous situation.

One would think that the people who scream for more government services and more infrastructure, would establish the same thing in their own camps.

I am so sick of Occupy Everywhere. This is going to end ugly. I hope each Mayor who has been "oh so tolerant" of these people's breaking the law by camping out and setting up tent cities loses their next election. This is not lawful. Overtime is breaking already stretched cities...resources are being diverted from many other high crime areas...first a mayor says, "get out," then a mayor says, "let's talk," then a mayor says, "get out," again.

Protesting is one thing. Occupying is something very different. Arrest them. That's what protesting is all about, for God's sake. Let them come back in the morning instead of living in their communal little 'cities' and thinking they're the most righteous people on planet earth. How many coppers and demonstrators are going to have to be injured or killed before we close down their tent cities, demand they move their generators, put out their warming fires, take down their unlicensed food tents, and get the hell out of Dodge? If I were a business owner in any of these areas, I'd be organizing a recall petition for the mayors of the cities involved. Ridiculous.

As a nation, we're missing out on a great opportunity to cull the herd. Then again, they may be doing this for us!

(I kid, I kid)

The longer this goes on, the more the true colors of the protesters "shine through".

Occupy encampments: a living example of why you don't want anarchists to have their way in your country.

They've determined that he probably died of a combination of carbon monoxide poisoning and drug use.

Well I guess they could stay and slowly just die off. That might end their occupying. You know - hey - it's their right :shrug:They don't need big government to tell them what to do for their own health-sake. But they do need big government to take more from the rich to cover their cost of hospitalization and treatment when they're injured, dying and ill.

All of this in the US makes me wonder just how things are going worldwide in places like Bolize and Brazille.

All I know is that tuberculosis was once eradicated in this country but that now it's back...and bad. Polio is back too (six reported cases in, I think, Minnesota, a year+ ago, and I don't know if there are any others).

Tuberculosis was never fully eradicated - only tightly contained. In fact - many 'plague-like' diseases have never been fully eradicated - just tightly controlled and squelched. They come and go in bouts and tend to thrive when conditions are right - such as this.

ı am sorry for that man...

I think you know what I meant. Ditto with pertussis and polio.

Another thread where Josie links to the conservative hack-site "The Blaze" which uses the death of a man to score political points. Heartless.
