pointless. once the cops have been notified, they are required to investigate. Paterno calling again would have accomplished nothing.

However, Paterno was this fellow's boss. Would you let Sandusky stay employed?
IIRC Sandusky was retired, so he wasn't employed.

    Have contnued access?
IMHO, since he was retired, he had no reason to have inlimited/unescorted access at all

We're still not sure they were notified. I don't think we can take McQuery's word on this.

True, though there were signs while he was employed. One might think Paterno would have been aware. But Sandusky kept ties to the university all the way along.

    But he did.

AUSTAN GOOLSBEE: I think the world vests too much power, certainly in the president, probably in Washington in general for its influence on the economy, because most all of the economy has nothing to do with the government.

which is why I qualified my statement with "if McQueary is being honest". If McQueary is a liar and he didn't call the cops, then Paterno either should have or insisted that McQueary do so.

aware of what? that Sandusky was a creeper? there were signs that michael jackson was a molestor for the last 25 years of his life. there is a difference between having suspicions and having evidence to present to the authorities.

    But he did.
and? that was not your question. you asked if I thought he should have had access, I said no.

sorry, but as much as it may pain some people. you typically cannot fire someone because you suspect they might be doing something illegal/unethical. firing someone without proof is a good way to get sued for $$$$$

McQueary Penn State scandal: Mike McQueary says he did go to police - mcall.com

So either McQueary is a liar, or all the bashing of Paterno for "not doing enough" is bull**** because, if McQueary is being honest, there was no need for Paterno to report the incident to the cops since McQueary had already done so.
My question is whether he talked to the "police" or the campus police?

Paterno could have had Sandusky barred from campus. How he could watch this guy using the campus Paterno claimed he loved for his pursuits is beyond me.

The story is not complete. Maybe he tried, but I doubt that if Paterno wanted him gone he wouldn't have been.

according to what I saw he is claiming to have talked to both the "police" AND the head of campus police

I am sure that Sandusky had the common sense not to act like a child rapist in front of Paterno. on what grounds, prior to this incident, could Paterno have had Sandusky barred from campus? vague suspicion is not sufficient

Paterno knew what this guy was. He didn't just "retire early".

would be nice to see some actual proof of that.

FWIW, you can hardly consider retiring after coaching for 30 years to be "retiring early" not everyone wants to work until they are 85 years old
