[h=1]The Federal Court Tells Florida’s Governor Scott To Go Pee In His Own Cup. Law Found Unconstitutional[/h]
Florida and Missouri have passed into law, bills that require recipients of welfare to submit to blood, urine or hair sample tests in order to claim their checks. Thirty-six states have bills pending and many Republican dominated state houses are eager to test those that are “living off the generosity of the real taxpayers.” I’ve been told that as the taxpayers, we are, in effect, their employers and as such, demanding drug tests should be no different than those demanded by many employers in the “real work force.” Or so goes the reasoning for these tests. And so goes thousands of posts and comments on websites by conservative supporters with mini-celebrations announcing the states that have passed these testing requirements: “Two down, 48 to go.” Florida won the race for passing the first Welfare Recipients Pee in a Cup law and then became the first to face a challenge on the constitutionality of it.

These bills are aimed directly at the poor, so it is singling out a class of people for peeing into cups. No bankers, no contractors who have Federal contracts, no corporations that receive Federal subsidies, or anybody else who sucks on the government's teat, is included. Only the poor, who receive welfare.

You know, I am not against this law. As soon as it applies to the banksters and corporate CEO's, as well as the poor, I will be for it. It will be constitutional then.

Hey, I'm all for that. Monthly drug tests for every American. Those found with illicit substances in their body to be deported immediately, after forfeitting all property and their citizenship.

No welfare for people who own drug testing companies and give kickbacks to politicians.

I read this part...

...taxpayers, we are, in effect, their employers and as such, demanding drug tests should be no different than those demanded by many employers in the “real work force.”

...and damned near fell out of my seat!

Who the hell do these politicians think pay their salaries? These GOP politicians must think that tax dollars only go toward entitlement programs. Gees...such narrow thinking!

I think policicians should be the very first ones to get the drug tests.

I think everyone who lives on taxpayer money should be drug tested, it doesn't matter how high or low on the salary ladder they are. It's the same way in the military, it should be the same for them.

If one believes this...

...taxpayers, we are, in effect, their employers and as such, demanding drug tests should be no different than those demanded by many employers in the “real work force.”

...then it should be logical that this should follow...

Why? What purpose would that serve other than wasting taxpayer money on drug testing?

This is the typical bait and switch tactic used by the GOP all over America. Target the poor, make it seem like they are such a huge source of economic drain, and then go for the throat. I seem to recall that no corporate CEOs had to pee into a cup when they received multi trillion dollar bailouts from taxpayers. It's the corporate and banking sectors that have us in this economic mess, not people on welfare.

Divide and conquer!

Who can argue with this?

Do you understand the concept of welfare? Ask the myriad mothers who have no other form of support than to create babies at the tax payers expense? How about illegal aliens whose health care benefits are comprised of emergency room visits at tax payer expense? What do you think "spread the wealth" is all about for millions of Americans? What do you think a "living wage" is for many, working or not?

Who do you think pays for social welfare?

You seem to think welfare recipients are entitled to tax payer money without obligation? It's free, just come and get it?

If that's your opinion then you pay for it.

For those born in the US, where would you propose to deport them to?

The point is not giving away tax money to welfare recipients without obligation. The point is that, instead of singling out just one group of people, drug tests should apply to ALL who receive Federal money. That includes all the employees of corporations that get bailouts, all the employees of corporations that get government grants, all of the employess of banks that get bailouts, all the employees of corporations that get government contracts, etc, etc. After all, if the Federal government is going to keep ruling that corporations are people too, then corporations must be treated like people, and constitutionally, as long as corporations get equal protection under the law, they are going to also have to accept responsibility, just like anybody else, under the law. Otherwise, corporations should be given a new name, instead of being called people. I would suggest that "royalty" might be a good one to use.

Test the assholes, along with the poor.

And what do you do with positive results?

Can we also deport people with extreme and moronic ideas?

That would help move the country back to a moderate center.

I think welfare recipients should be subject to randomized and mandatory drug testing. There is absolutely no problem with that.

I've never had a job--even in the service--where I didn't have to piss in a cup upon entry, as well as being subject to random testing.

Since that's my tax money that those deadbeats are getting, I want to be sure that they're not using it to buy drugs. It's bad enough that they spend it on trips to the casino and luxury cruises. I mean, no one seems to mind that the rest of us have to take drugs tests.

It reminds me of the Katrina debacle, people saying that the 2k$ allotments weren't enough, well, they would be if used to buy interview clothes and the necessities to get a job. Then there was the woman who complained about the MREs being unsatisfactory, well lady, our troops eat them and they bust ass and sacrifice greatly for us so eat it or don't but that's all you get. Or the whole using assistance in strip clubs thing.

Anyway I'm getting off topic. Dan, you are right about politicians getting drug tested, as dumb as their decisions are I'm sure they're on dope and since they recieve taxpayer funded salaries test them too, but definitely test wellfare recipients.

It's not all that off topic. Remember this?

In a related development in Washington, auditors detailed how the federal government squandered millions of dollars in Katrina disaster aid, including handing $2,000 debit cards to people who gave phony Social Security numbers and used the money for such items as a $450 tattoo.

Bingo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the lady hits a homerun out of the park....the entire management of every single big oil company that gets taxpayer subsidies for absolutely NOTHING should pee in a cup.....big farms that get taxpayer subsidies to hire illegal workers and charge more per lb for produce should pee in a cup. Every politician for the small town up that lives off taxpayer money should PEE in a cup....

I have no problem with people receiving money from the government for nothing. People who sign contracts for services with the government are providing a service and are getting compensated for it. What service are welfare recipients providing.

I am subject to random drug testing simply for the fact that I am an athlete. No probable cause; just simply due to my status. I don't see the problem here.

Your post here is picked out of random.

But I will tell you this drug testing thing is BS.

You guys do not know what it is like to have every organ in you body checked out.

And I have them checked every six weeks.

Some guy and or gal trying to feed their family is a pittance.

And why people put witht his in the labor market. I do not know!
