Occupy Oakland Attacked By Tear Gas, Rubber Bullets, and Flash Grenades

you wonder why the 'movement' is losing steam? Two reason...one...people that go to work are getting tired of them and two...people like those protesters.

Its not

Poll: 43 percent agree with views of "Occupy Wall Street" - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

Forty-three percent of Americans agree with the views of the "Occupy Wall Street" movement, according to a new CBS News/New York Times poll that found a widespread belief that money and wealth should be distributed more evenly in America.
Twenty-seven percent of Americans said they disagree with the movement, which began more than a month ago in lower Manhattan and has since spread across the country and around the world. Thirty percent said they were unsure.

Right, because the rioters didn't step out of line.

It'd be helpful to see all that happened BEFORE the shots/etc.

Yeah because the police said they were running when he got hit in the head, what were they running from? Where were they running too? Were they carrying anything?

It is. It is losing news coverage and it is losing public interest. But hey...ME...I want them to have staying power. I want to see them out there protesting deep into the winter months. Im setting my DVR for it.

As it is, I am still seeing polling numbers going up or remaining steady, but believe what you want to if it makes you feel good.

Having observed many violent riots on YouTube in the past, I find that dubious at best. Usually someone in the riot/protest/group does something stupid, like throw something, and, like trying to hit a wasps nest, they come out and punish. Furthermore, I tend to distrust socialists because they typically involve revolutions. Soory, but I'm being brutally honest.

and municipalities have the right to keep public order, by requiring protest permits.

Protest permits are silly. The point of a protest is to be inconveniant to the powers that be. That being said, permits are for the conveniance of the powers that be.

For a common area, like a park which most OWS people are using, it makes sense.
It is a common area and the OWS folks aren't the only people in this universe.

Others would like to use these common areas, for a limited time, like all are entitled to.

Polls are foolish measures. You know that. Do you agree that wall street should have less influence on politicians/?Why YES! Are you going to vote against democrats that consistently take in millions form bankers and brokers? Ummm...no...

Do you understand the difference between a peaceful protestor and a violent one? Do you shoot a peaceful protestor?

You can keep saying "peaceful" all you want.

Were you there?
How do you know they were peaceful?

You are the equivalent of a guy punching a woman in the face in plain sight of an officer and then screaming while getting arrested, "I didnt do anything... I didn't do anything.... I didn't do anything!"

Firecrackers? Paint Cans? Rocks? Bottles (presumably filled with something, even if not... ?)? That is "peaceful" to you.

Go get a clue.

This is when i say its ok to fight back as protesters...

Lol what leaders.

Do you really want to get into that same discussion again, Josie?

And, as you recall, the NYC protest was completely non violent and look what happened. Now a world wide phenomeneom. The only violence committed there was by police officers

In the beginning of these protests, the police arrestd people who they thought were the leaders so that it would end. But there are no leaders so it didn't end.

You were there too? Amazing... .. my oh my how you get around.

I already saw in the videos a guy jumping on police officers making an arrest, you can't see much because the camera person then quickly changes view as to not allow us to see what happened very well.

I made a post about it in one of these threads.... none of the protest supporters bothered to comment.... surprisingly.....

If Osama Bin Laden said, "I am peaceful." You would believe him huh?

You get a clue, I was referring to this article Veteran in critical condition after police assault at Occupy Oakland — RT, which explicitly states:

Olsen, a veteran of the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, was injured last night while participating in the Occupy Oakland demonstration, a West Coast offshoot of the ongoing Occupy Wall Street protests that have spread across the world. Tuesday morning police had launched a spontaneous raid on the Bay Area campsite, evicting and arresting dozens of peaceful protesters. Vowing to return to keep their fight alive, hundreds came back hours later to continue their occupation in downtown Oakland, a neighboring city of San Francisco.

This is when i say its ok to fight back as protesters...

What? When your group assaults the police and they react, its okay to fight back?

Get a clue.

Because "Russia Today" says they are peaceful it must be so?

You realize that "Russia Today" is contributed to by the guy Adam Kokesh that does the "Adam vs. The Man" **** right...............Talk about Objectivity.

If Saddam Hussein told you he was peaceful to the Kurds.... You would believe him.

Okay, if I have one article telling me that they are peaceful, how am I supposed to jump to the irrational conclusion that they are not? You are confusing...

I think the police were fully within their rights.

The law must still be respected, these people can't hijack property and ignore the law in the name of "free speech" and "protesting."

Ohh they assaulted them?
Looked like to me a group of 7 cops dressed in riot gear were standing there then the protesters came and about 97% just kept on walking past them.. Then about 10 or 12 stood by them and started yelling and pointing at the cops and something flew in and almost hit the cops..
And that is assaulting them?
Thats justification for this?
Man oh man civil disobedience has become a lame term... Man look at Greece...
But lets not forget when the cops brutally arrest, beat, and assault peaceful protesters thats ok they are just "enforcing the law"!:congrats:

So you are okay with removing peoples rights as long as they are protesting? Should the protesters not be aloud to carry guns, I mean the police could open fire on them...

Because Russia Today isn't a legitimate news organization......

I think next time, instead of telling people to "Go get a clue", you should link them to a non-bias news source on the story. :)

You can keep saying peaceful all you want.

Just because you keep repeating it, it doesn't make it so.

Paint Cans, Bottles, Firecrackers, Rocks......

Those are not tools of the peaceful.

WTF Do they need firecrackers for at a peaceful protest?

Why are they told to bring bottles to RE-Occupy?

I support upholding property rights and city laws. They have the right to protest within lawful parameters.
