the fact is, OWS had an organized protest outside of this event. Naomin Klein was part of this protest, which of course had no protest permit as OWS doesnt believe in protest permits.

if they indeed had a permit to protest at that street, at that time, on that day...then the NYPD acted illegally and the charges will be dropped.

It's not that OWS doesn't believe in protest permits but the city seems a little hesitant to give them any for some reason. . . . . . . .

The clerk who issues the permits is part of the 1%.

Is a cop saying, "Go away" a lawful order? If so then why do we even have the right to peacably assemble?

This is night a right vs. left issue anymore. Our right to peaceful assembly is being trampled upon. I think her understanding of our OBLIGATION to keep government in check is the most important aspect of this interview.

    Decide for yourself.
This was the most important lesson I learned in government class. It is a shame more people didn't take government class to learn what makes Democracy work.

Apparently Naomi Wolfe's was whether you agree with her stance or not.

Regardless of what you may desire law's are gauged as to their Constitutionality as proscribed by the United States Constitution not whether Constitutionally protected rights are in accordance with local, state, or federal regulation. In other words and order issued by a police officer is NOT LAWFULL if it violates a Constitutionally Protected right.
