The reality show facing GOP voters

Depends, what kind of car does she drive?

That far-right-Libertarian notion that it's every man for himself is both ignorant and anti-American.

Human benevolence is not the same as forced redistribution.

Everyone wants something they don't have.

Try pragmatic public policy.

"forced".... you guys crack me up.

By the way, that Cop in Flynt is paying for the repairs to the bridge that secretary uses to drive work.

By the way, that secretary in Utah, she works in the travel industry.

You know why people travel to Utah? NATIONAL PARKS.

You know who maintains those parks. The cops in Flynt.

You lack a basic understanding of how this country really works--the economic/public policy mechanisms.

Interesting response. What does this have to do with Biden saying if you cut police forces, crime will rise?

Flint, Michigan should raise taxes and hire the police back.

Or, maybe they can't since they blew their last stimulus money on paying down their obscene public employee pension.

I know how it works. State and city governments all over the country dug holes they can't crawl out of. You're in California, you should know that firsthand.

What do you call the massive redistribution from the middle class and the working class to the top1% under Bush?

You are not ignorant, are you, to the fact that over the last decade this country has seen the largest redistribution of wealth in the history of this country....and it wasn't under Obama.

When did the guy who worked in the oil field and lost his job during the Obama oil purges ever have Warren Buffet's stock portfolio?

No, the geniuses that ran wall street (deregulated under W.) created investment products that imploded.

You obviously don't have a clue how it works. You directly/indirectly benefit fed government services and programs every hour of every day, then cry about having to pay for it.

W. ran up a war debt and unfunded prescription drug program, then left Obama with a collapsing economy. They have succeeded in stopping the hemorrhaging, yet the Teabag morons want to rip the bandages off and let the blood flow.

Some Teabag business group was actually sending out emails asking small businesses to stop hiring. It's all about the Black Man in the White House. Half this country just wasn't ready. And that is sad.

It's actually worse than that. It's bad enough when we elect politicians who receive slightly less than 50% of the votes, a viable third party candidate will make it possible for us to elect our leaders with only 34% of the votes. Nope, that doesn't work for me.

All the world is a stage and in this year’s GOP presidential race, it is a reality show soundstage cluttered with clownish characters auditioning for the role of commander in chief.
A bemused audience of political spectators and cable chatterers has been entertained this year by a fallen speaker, a pizza mogul, a wild-eyed ideologue, a billionaire developer and a hockey mom from Alaska.
Two of those actors have starred in actual reality shows, but — here’s the hook — no one in this actors’ studio is qualified to be president.

For the record: he's the host of the Morning Show on MSNBC . . . if that aint liberal than I don't know what is.

Coming from him, however - I'm surprised he had nothing more to say that what seems to be a critique of everyone's 'real world potential' - that's a let down. He's gone soft(er) I guess.
George W. Bush looks like Brando, Paul Ryan is as attractive as Robert Redford, and Chris Christie is Brad Pitt.

Come on - What the **** is that supposed to do for this whole political process?

What's that word that comes before 'States' in the name of our country?

Come on, I know you can say it... don't be scared....

This is where you far-righies jump right off the fail cliff every time. What happens in California effects the entire country. The economies of the states are so intertwined. But you really have to have a grasp of the complexity of the American economy. Which you obviously don't.

'The Obama Oil Purges'...???

That dark Red kool-aide does its magic....

What do you call the massive redistribution from the middle class and the working class to the top1% under Bush?

nonexistent. the only redistribution that was going on during that time period was from the middle, upper middle, and upper class to the poor, lower middle, and political classes.

this is true. California's idiocy has been a mixed bag for the other states - on the downside, depressed economic performance effects us all; but on the upside, they get to benefit as the productive people flee the west coast.

Yeah, silicon valley is just going to pick up and move.

CA = top schools in the nation.

CA = biggest economy in the nation.

CA = get down on your knees and say 'thank you', Nation.

Oh yeah, seen a movie or watched TV lately?? Thank you, CA.

Your screen name is appropriate, you are living in a fantasy. Bush's tax cuts caused the top earners to pay an even larger share of the federal government. Try to get your facts correct.

How exactly do poor people with no wealth have that nonexistent wealth redistributed to wealthy people?

FAR RIGHTIES TALKING ABOUT FACTS..... THAT"S FUNNY!!!

How exactly do poor people with no wealth have that nonexistent wealth redistributed to wealthy people?

In a market economy, the larger an investment is, the higher its rate of return. This is due to both economies of scale and the increased range of investment opportunities. In addition to these economic forces, those who control greater amounts of capital within a society are able to participate more directly in shaping government policy, often in ways that further maximize their wealth. Thus, due to both economic and political realities within a market economy, it is a natural process for the wealthiest individuals and firms in a society to become disproportionately wealthier over time. In order to prevent the political instability resulting from the natural stratification of the populace into an ever smaller and wealthier aristocracy or moneyed class, and an ever larger working class, all free market democracies engage in progressive taxation and programs to enhance economic opportunity for the lower and middle classes.

WOW!!!! that is one terrific column. Thank you lpast for putting it up here. I would have missed it otherwise.

Scarborough hits it out of the park and well into the vacant field next door to the ballpark.

I suspect the apologists for the tea party whackjobs and the far right of what makes up the GOP will now proceed to tar and feather Scarborough, imply that he is NOT a true conservative, and attempt to take away his True Believer membership card. His subscription to the Lew Rockwell emailings will be canceled, he will not be welcome at the next ALEC convention, and the CATO Institute has removed him from a possible Board position in the future.

But its still a great article that speaks volumes of truth.

And it will have no impact at all upon the the Republican process.

thank you for the predicted response. Attack the messenger instead of the message. Amazing.

Nobody will remember this stuff a year from now when unemployment is still 9% and Biden is still popping off about the choice being betwen rapes and recovery.

Popping off...??

In reality, we've been in recovery since 2008 when W. left us at -9% growth.

Opps, I guess they don't cover that story on Fox.

Yeppers, Obama has pulled us back from the brink to +2% growth.

Get down on your knees and say, "Thank you, Mr. Tibbs."
