Only a third of the Senate comes up for a vote every two years. Republicans did well, but there will be more D seats up next time, and more D Senators already retiring.

It takes two election cycles to take the Senate.

I was more disappointed about Harry Reid, but he buys every vote he can and he's a hard guy to take down.

I have to admit that the Republican presidential nomination campaign this year has been almost as entertaining as Palin was in 2008. Maybe the Tea Party should start its own comedy network - they've got some real talent in that area. Fortunately for the country, they don't have anyone with the talent to be POTUS

Oh and I agree with you, in a year, it will be Herb who?

A secretary in Park City, Utah should not subsidize a cop in Flint, Michigan.

that's like saying a tax-payer in NY should not fund interstates in Texas.

Those are my sentiments exactly...what a lousy bunch of choices on both sides. Americans do not like the far left nor the far right....
I think it will whittle down to Obama vs Romney....which is a nightmare for the teaparty

All the world is a stage and in this year’s GOP presidential race, it is a reality show soundstage cluttered with clownish characters auditioning for the role of commander in chief.
A bemused audience of political spectators and cable chatterers has been entertained this year by a fallen speaker, a pizza mogul, a wild-eyed ideologue, a billionaire developer and a hockey mom from Alaska.
Two of those actors have starred in actual reality shows, but — here’s the hook — no one in this actors’ studio is qualified to be president.

Let's see. The most recent example of compromise was blowing up the debt ceiling by another $2.5T.

Is this what you mean by playing to the middle?
