We could possibly dicker a little on the providing access to the coast issue. Of course, the US would still have Oregon and Washington, but that's a long trip if you're headed for Hawaii or Asia.
There's also the matter of a dozen or so U.S. military bases, Vandenberg and Beal top-security Air Force Bases and ports which house the lion's share of America's Pacific Fleet. If the U.S. wants continued access, I imagine we'd be cooperative... for a generous rental agreement.

... or the Federal government could simply use that very fact to justify a use of force against any secession effort.

Or the Federal government could invite you to try collecting that rent.

Or they could move and take everything with them.
I'm already gearing up for Finger Vote 2014.

Just for reference, means my post was a giant steaming pile of sarcasm.

Fine with me. The property housing all those military bases is worth billions of bucks. The US isn't giving us squat for them now. We'd make out like bandits!

I hear Cuba doesn't accept payment for Guantanamo. Being capitalists, we'd have a different approach to the issue.
