Westboro Baptist Church uses iPhone to announce plans to protest Jobs funeral

I think this bunch loves the notoriety. It's a ka-ching for them and a total bonus. But I've heard that Fred Phelp spawn, the Roper woman who's an attorney, spouting her filth, and I think she means it.

Its a act to maintain their image as anti-gay activist merely exercising their first amendment rights. Because if enough people figured out that they were nothing more than lower forms of Ambulance chasers running a provoke and sue the people would demand that attorneys can not collect fees from states, limit what they can collect as attorney fees as well as award limits on what they can receive or simply just pull all their law licenses or some other way to not make it profitable for them to run around doing provoke and sue scams.

I couldn't watch the whole video. I was getting ready to puke.

Perhaps they are taking lessons from the Wall Street protesters...
Westboro is much much more organized. The Wall Street Protester could prob'ly learn a thing or two from them.

The WBC are not true Christians. They hate homosexuals. They are to hate sin, not fellow sinners.

Yes, it's an obvious statement, but imho it should be repeated.

To be fair to them, their signs say "God hates fags." or "God hates [insert practitioners of sin here]", they don't say "We hate fags."

Listening to Fred Phelps in an online debate or watching documentaries on the group, they are quite clear on God being the judge and that they are warning the sinners of their fate. As much as I object to their beliefs, I haven't seen them defeated in a theological debate.

And, yet, this sentiment doesn't seem to exist in America about Islam and terrorists.

True. Both the WBC and Islamic terrorists are cynically using a religion to achieve secular goals. And giving their religions a bad name in the process.

They are correct that homosexuality is a sin, but they are wrong for saying God hates sinners.

Can you cite biblical verse that says homosexuality is a sin? New testament, I mean, since Old Testament doesn't count. (or so I'm told?) I'm not at all up to speed on what the religious reasoning behind the sentiment is. :|

Ya know, people like Phelps and his ilk would be damaged more if everybody... and I mean EVERYBODY, media included... simply ignored them.

Don't give them the media attention they crave. Don't react and put yourself in a position to be sued by them. Ignore them. Completely.

No, but he was kept alive by buttloads of mid 20s liberals who wanted to be "fashionable" by drastically overpaying for slightly superior merchandise.

They've got Droids?

Apparently no one has an answer for you. I suspect that's because they cannot.

Please don't ASSume. I've debated this issue ad nauseum (well over 200 times) and have provided the scriptures for both new and old testament.

Hooray! Old testament counts!

I worked on the sabbath. You think I should be put to death, right?

Thought this was funny.

Lampanelli is a supporter of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.[20] When members of the Westboro Baptist Church protested a show she held on 20 May 2011 in Topeka, Kansas she promised to donate $1000 to Gay Men's Health Crisis for every protester that attended. After an initial count of 44 protesters she rounded the donation to an even $50,000, crediting the donation as being "made possible by the WBC."

That's because they can't read - actually God hates "figs" - remember, he cursed the fig tree!

If my son had been killed in Iraq, and these idiots showed up at his funeral with their "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" signs, they wouldn't have had enough members of their lame group to attend another funeral - this mom doesn't take kindly to ignoramuses who blaspheme God, desecrate soldier's funerals and have no idea what God really hates. He hates people that hate people, and those that would disrupt an event that is already heavy with grief and add insult to injury. Thank God my son made it out of that hell hole in one piece, fighting for their freedom to be ignoramuses.

God hates sin, not people.

That's true, but the people that commit the sin and don't repent before they die, will be the ones that will inherit God's wrath - not their sin.

This can be said of everyone.

On issues of repentance I consider the Book of Acts and the indwelling of the Holy Ghost. Just my personal religious belief.

See, change one letter...it's like the difference between Iran and Iraq. Or Obama and Osama.

Not sure what you mean. People who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior have had their sin paid for, they will not incur God's wrath.

Accepting Jesus as one's personal Lord and Savior is the only way to have your sins forgiven, that's my personal belief.
