Durbin says Democrats don

LMAO .... I guess this will stop BO from spewing "Pass the bill. Pass the bill". He can't even convince the liberals tools in the senate to vote on it, and they control the senate. Apparently many liberal senators acknowledge BO's jobs bill is nothing more than a campaign motivated tax hike on the very people that may create jobs. Can anyone explain how taking money from employers will create a better employment environment?

The American Jobs Act contains no tax hikes, genius. In fact it contains the opposite. Why don't you do some research before you start bull****tin'

President Obama's American Jobs Act will create jobs using ideas that have been supported by both Democrats and Republicans. Congress should pass right away to get the economy moving now. The plan would:
•Create incentives for small businesses to hire and grow from now into 2012.
•Make investments that would prevent layoffs of as many as 280,000 teachers, provide opportunities for long-term unemployed veterans, and put Americans to work rebuilding roads, railways, bridges, and schools in need of repair.
•Implement the most sweeping reforms to the unemployment insurance system in 40 years to help those without jobs transition to the workplace.
•Expand the payroll tax cut, cutting workers payroll taxes in half next year. This provision will provide a tax cut of $1,500 to the typical family.
Be fully paid for as part of the President's long-term deficit reduction plan.

BO can't propose $450billion in crony capitalism spending without paying for it. His tax proposal is DOA, which makes his "jobs" bill DOA....or should we call it "Failed Porkulus II"? You do know the senate hasn't done anything with "Failed Porkulus II", don't you?

Damn Republicans. Obvious racism going on here.

enate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said, at the moment, Democrats in Congress don’t have the votes to pass President Obama’s jobs bill, but Durbin added that that situation would change.

He said they dont have the votes now...but that would change....I didnt read anything where it said durbin or democrats said the bill was a campaign ploy

From the article.

The jobs plan is made up of a combination of tax increases on the wealthy..............

The overall "plan" is not the same as the Jobs Act/bill itself.

1) Uhh, no. The tax increases are not part of the Jobs Act itself.
2) The tax increases are not set to be implemented immediately, but in the future. He is not talking about significantly raising taxes during this weak recovery. You DO realize that the bill itself implements substantial payroll tax cuts on both the employer and employee side?

You are aware that to get the bill to pass the Senate, it would require the votes of 7 Republicans because Republicans filibuster every Democratic bill.

It's a shame you liberals don't understand your Messiah's policies.

:) Simply add in the trade deals that the President talked about, and I'm betting you could peal 7 with little enough effort at compromising.

OHHHHH but wait.... those were only talking points - they got pulled out of the "actual" bill (once he got around to writing it) because they tick off his union constituency.

The President's American Jobs Act (AJA) does not include tax increases. However, the President's Deficit Reduction Bill (DRB) does provided that Congress:

- allows the Bush tax cuts on the Middle-Class expire and those on the rich increase as outlined in the DRB.

- that tax loopholes are eliminated.

The rest of the revenue to pay for the AJA would come from a variety of spending cuts.

[And] the plan calls for the Congress to undertake comprehensive tax reform that lowers tax rates, closes loopholes, boosts job creation here at home, cuts the deficit by $1.5 trillion, and observes the Buffett Rule—that people making more than $1 million a year should not pay a smaller share of their income in taxes than middle-class families pay. To assist the Committee in its work, I also included specific tax loophole closers and measures to broaden the tax base. Together with the expiration of the high-income tax cuts from 2001 and 2003, these measures would be more than enough to reach this $1.5 trillion target.

They include cutting tax preferences for high-income households, eliminating tax breaks for oil and gas companies, closing the carried interest loophole for investment fund managers, and eliminating benefits for those who use corporate jets.

In sum, the plan I am sending to the Congress today is a blueprint for how we can reduce this deficit, pay down our debt, and pay for the American Jobs Act in the process.

The Dems saw what happen last fall. There's no way they're going to pass this ass wipe bill, with the elections only 13 months away. :lamo

Harry Reid said they have more important things to do...like trying to keep from getting their asses handed to them...again.

Apparently you didn't actually read any of the bill.

1) the jobs bill does include tax increases, and the companion deficit reduction bill includes massive tax increases
2) business owners change their strategies the minute they are aware their cost structure is going to go up
3) substantial payroll cuts? LMAO, you mean substantial like the one we already had that didn't do jackship to jump start the economy? Temporary measures are viewed by business owners as just that, short-term and largely irrelevant.

I believe the most pressing matter on Reid's table is to schedule the next senate vacation around a vote to start a trade war with China. The libtards in the senate haven't passed a budget in something like 900 days.

you have to admit, though, it's kind of funny.

Obama promises to send a jobs bill to congress, only he's going to go on paid vacation first

then they promise to take a look at it, only they're gonna go on paid vacation first

man, must be nice to be part of the ruling class....

It's a shame you liberals don't understand your Messiah's policies.

For someone who doesn't like Obama, you sure like to call him the Messiah. Interesting, because I've never even once heard a liberal call him that.

Conservatives are also the only ones to emphasize that his middle name is Hussein.

Hussein means "handsome." They're emphasizing that he's handsome. I find that interesting too.

I get a chuckle when people get upset because his middle name is used. It's his middle name. Get over it.

Didn't one of the editors of newsweek say BO was almost godlike? You must have slept through 2008 when numerous liberal writers, bloggers and reporters talked about the way BO rose above the status of being merely human. Who will ever forget the stage BO built that had the Greek columns, I expected to see him give that speech wearing a toga and a crown of gold leaves. :lamo

I didnt say it wasnt perrry and thats not the point i was addressing...I was strictly refering that inference that durbin was against the bill was wrong...he said they dont have the votes YET...
