Chris Christie Reconsidering 2012 Run, Will Decide in Days

I have my fingers crossed.

Christie - on paper - would be a major player in this primary season. I seriously have questions about his physical stamina and ability to endure in such a taxing contest. But its his decision.

What does Christie have to offer that isn't already in the current GOP line-up?

Haymaket, why the concerns about his stamina? Is he ill? Recovering from illness or injury?

He isn't the current line-up. (outside of Paul). The top two, Romney and Perry stand for nothing.

haymarket is referring to his gross obesity and asthma I believe

Could you be a bit more specific, 1Perry (or anyone else)? What does Christie bring to the table from the GOP POV that is lacking?

Thanks for health answer and union observation.

I find Chris Christie to be very funny and very likable. However, the American people are very superficial. Since the television age, Americans for the most part the vote for the more handsome and virile man in the race. Think about it, Obama over McCain, Bush over Kerry (the ugly tree pretty much fell on Kerry), Bush over Gore, Clinton over Dole, Clinton over Bush Sr, and so on and so forth.

There is no way the American people would have someone as morbidly obese as Christie is as the face of the nation to the rest of the world. If the guy wants the job he needs to lose some weight.

I don't know as much as I'd like about Christie....but I think he'd be interesting.

Thats a darn good question...seems the teaparty supporters arent real happy with the current crop...they want someone that is able to beat Obama and after winning fulfill their murdering of social security and medicare and medicaid and brutalizing public and govt workers wishlist and of course giving huge tax cuts to the rich and corporations.....somehow they believe Christie is more able to beat Obama than any of the others...I think they are DEAD WRONG and the one with the best chance is Romney...

Christie will galvanize unions public and private for obama....

Like they won't be anyway. Especially after he gave GM to the unions.

He has shown that he is serious about making cuts.

Yanno Perry I was a member of a Public Union for almost 30 yrs..and I voted straight republican and so did everyone I knew that I worked with...anyone that believes all union members voted democrat or are liberal is foolishly wrong...BUT, having said that...they attacks on unions by the teaparty supported and elected govs have changed the whole complexion of that....now ageless republican supporters are no longer that....LIKE ME....the teaparty attacked me, everything I did my entire career...called me lazy and GREEDY and told me I didnt deserve the pension that I WAS FORCED to be in by law..and 9% of my gross pay before taxs came out of my net pay after taxs for near 3 decades...now keep in mind FORCED no choice...The teaparty attacked me viciously and I am eagerly awaiting my small chance to return the favor and so are other long time staunch republican supporters.
I did not vote for Obama...I voted for rick scott last nov...Marco Rubio and my Gop congressman nugent.....thats all changed since nov...

And in Ohio there is a group of union members suing to not be forced to pay union dues.

Dont count your chickens...it just may be you soiling your bloomers if Obama wins

I'm not sure that Christie will be able to draw the undecided or disgruntled Democrat votes. He would have to carry the entire spectrum of GOPs to even have a chance and I really can't see that happening given his hard-line approach to both tax increases and modifications of the current 'safety-net' systems.

He already won. I've not resorted to making up things about him in every post.

What you think is called opinion...

Christie has Credibility.
He's really the First to take on a State Budget so directly. Contrast with Shwartzen-something when he came to office and borrowed more money.

He's also straightforward without being a ignorant cowboy like Perry.
Iowa Repbulican brass wanted him to run.
My: http://www.debatepolitics.com/us-el...lead-chris-christie-run.html?amp;goto=newpost
He would be acceptable to Everyone in the GOP from the Giuliani/Snowe Republicans, to Rove-rs, to the Tea Party.
No one else would.
He'd also would play well with Swing Voters/Independents as he's not a Bible toter.

I see him still as not ready though in several ways, but already the favorite for 2016; as I've said before.
I like him and have made a few strings on it.

If Obama wins in 2012 I believe Senator ROb Portman will be the GOP nominee in 2016

So did the late great David Broder

If he doesn't run, good chance he's the Keynote speaker at the convention.
Often that esteemed position to 'future star.'
And as I've said before, almost-any-Prez Nominee's First Choice for VP; which I hope he would consider even less than being #1.

2012 is the GOPs election to lose...Obama is in no different position than Jimmy Carter was...the difference is there are no reagans...the teaparty wanted ever so badly for Perry to be their reagan and it appears hes muffed it....
I think romney is best positioned to beat Obama...but of course the teaparty hates him...hes not far right nutter enough for them...hes a <gasp> rino
