Perry Sticking to His Guns on Social Security

He's talking a good game, but I'm still not convinced he's willing to WALK the talk on most of his Conservative ideas.

LOL! Yes, what you guys need is someone further right than Perry! Who would that be?

I wonder if you all realize that all this hyperpartisan rhetoric does absolutely nothing to help with the mess we're in, or encourage the partisans on the Right to behave any better, or really accomplish anything other than fulfill the expectations of the Right about how much the Left hates them.

In short, the way half of you are ranting isn't helping anything, and it damn sure isn't making the country any more united. The difference between you and the hyperpartisan Right is just whether you've got a D or R on your jersey, from where I stand.

But they will vote for the RINO, Perry, and cripple the party anyways.

Maybe, and maybe not. We'll have to see.

Hes not, hes full of it....this is just for the primary rhetoric....

That's what it's looked like from what I've seen, but I can't say I know a lot about Texas politics.

ME?

Romney is not at all likely to beat Obimbo. In fact, if he is the Republican candidate, he might finish THIRD in the election. There is no way on earth that anyone of even the slightest Conservative ilk would EVER vote for Mitt Romney. The Tea Partiers would take that entire portion of the party and walk away, permanently, leaving the Republican Party crippled.

that is just plain idiotic. anyone who would do something that stupid is voting for obama. any tea party voter who demands purity is gonna get four more years of Obumble

Perry yearns to RULE not LEAD. If you love being a subservient peasant...he' the guy for you. You'll especially love when he gets a little upset when you don't express a devoted love and loyalty to his "God" and his "Jesus". What ever you do, don't miss prayer day.

Oh, and the best part - your kids won't have to study civics and science anymore.

As a native Texan - iMHO - Perry would be America' worst nightmare - and that's his better quality.

Food for thought: If Perry loves America so much- why does he want to secede from the United States? 10th Amendment reasons as he claims? Uh huh...and total nonsense bull****!

So none of the other GOP candidates are further right than Perry in your opinion?

subservient peasants tend to be the major voting bloc for the democrats

I would suggest that he's at least the most VOCALLY Right-wing. His voting/action record may not say the same thing.

Which is fine with most of them.... It gives them something to whine about while knowing that nothing is going to happen. The Tea Party isn't interested in actual ANSWERS any more than the Dems or Repubs. If they were their 10,000+ attendees in DC last year would have come armed and done something about the problem rather than standing around and playing litter patrol.

Purists make me puke. We need to get GOP judges on the bench. The judges Perry or Batgirl or Newtered or Romney will appoint are 99% the same

Thanks for providing me with Tiggers position, but how do you know this is what he believes?

Good...this will get him 30% of the general vote...

that much a fan of Obama, huh?

 irrespective; Perry is running on the assumption that voters are adults rather than spoiled teenagers. We will see whether or not he is correct, but I lean towards the former.

fascinating. of course, having been Governor of a conservative state for over a decade, Perry no doubt has a large resume of theological abuses of his people, persecution of non-Christians, and the like that you can cite, right? right?

you, of course, can cite an example of Perry ever saying that he wants Texas to secede?

really. is this the kind of foolishness we can expect to see from the left should Perry run?

Here you go. It's from Fox so it should be pure enough for you: Governor Says Texans May Want To Secede From Union But Probably Won't | Fox News

.... and with that (the adults once again in charge), they might then be well positioned to win the White House in 2016.

Perry never said that he wants to secede, he stated that his constituents might want to secede. His sin is not saying he was in favor of it. His sin is indulging in the conversation, thereby legitimizing the discussion as opposed to showing responsible leadership by admonishing those suggested such silliness as secession.

Oh, please. Texas secession is a long-time state joke. Perry's constituents understand the context and the joke.

When Reagan was running I was a stupid lib kid , I heard and repeated all the things I am hearing about Perry now. More I hear libs bash him the more I think he has my vote.
Aren't you in Idaho?? Didn't Idaho vote for McCain over Obama in 2008 by an almost 2-to-1 factor? It's not like Obama is going to win Idaho anyway no matter who the GOP candidate is. Besides, what are we talkin' here? 4 electoral votes?? Will any of the candidates even bother campaigning in Idaho??

G'head, vote for Perry. Doesn't really matter, does it?

And a hilarious one. Not as hilarious as the Governor, but pretty durned funny!

Come on, Rick's a secessionist. Everybody knows that. Hell, he's proud of it! Count me among those who hopes the Texas Secessionist movement is successful. If they can take a few other states with them, so much the better.

I agree. I seriously would not mind if Texas seceded.

Ahh, it was all just a joke. I see. Like him calling Social Security unconstitutional but now says he wouldn't get rid of it. Now that's a funny joke!

Then I suggest getting some Pepto before reading my posts.

Yep, and they're still unlikely to be the philosophical PURISTS that I want to see on the bench. Half the cases the SCOTUS hears could be ruled on just by reading the briefs, thus saving us all a lot of time.

The KEY IS TO WIN THE WHITEHOUSE. Losing does nothing

Why, so that they can maintain the centrist-liberal philosophy that is now the heart and core of the Republican Party?

.... and with that (the adults once again in charge), they might then be well positioned to win the White House in 2016.

Who might be?.... the Republicans? I don't think so. They would likely end up having to join their philosophical counterparts in the Democratic Party in order to survive. Besides, who's suggesting that the Tea Party would wait until 2016 to stage the coup necessary to right the wrongs around this country?

You know someone's crazy when they say the Republican's are a centrist-liberal party. I really wish scientists would hurry up and build a time machine so we could send you home. What century are you from, anyway?
