FCC officially kills Fairness Doctrine, wiping it from rules

Get rid of Sharia law... check

Get rid of the fairness doctrine... check

what other non-existent threats can right wing talk radio retards come up with for us to fight next?

What makes you think such threats were non-existent?

Fallacies noted.

The fairness doctrine was originally a republican thing to force PBS and NPR to do more conservative programs btw

Don't confuse the true believers with facts.

We could be struck by a giant meteor next year and all die. The threat exists, it does not make it credible.

Merely possible.

Iirc, a few months ago a meteor came soclose to us that it could have struck earth. I can't recall the source, but it was on the news/radio.

I agree, catastrophic meteor strikes are a more realistic danger in the near future than Sharia law or the fairness doctrine are.

I didn't say that.

Of course there's the very credible threat that Obama will throw out the Constitution and install himself as a Socialist Dictator. It's been 3 years, what's he waiting for?

Only reason why is cause he would be shot dead before the constitution even hit the ground. :shoot

You're thinking of Apophis, it wasn't a few months ago, and no there's not a risk of impact yet. (might be in like 2037)

So maybe you should rethink your risk-assessment because your memory is playing tricks on you.

You'd be shocked at just how inaccurate your impression of "what liberals think" is. It's not your fault, there's a strong right-wing media effort to give you the impression that liberals think "government is the answer to everything," that we want "government to take care of everything," that we "want to control every aspect of your life," etc. They're all ridiculous, but you hear them all the time from the right. A lie told often enough, as they say.

lol... if I want to know what liberals think, I listen to them. I don't listen to a right wing hack like Beck, tell me who liberals are.

We weren't ever under Sharia Law, but to answer your question... getting rid of the white hating, socialist, Kenyan tyrant is their most important goal right now.

"The left" actually believes in free speech. Nobody wanted to "silence" talk radio. Unlike some certain group of people that thinks, for example, that the 1st amendment explicitly does not cover Islam.

The right-wing, primarily FauxNews did do an incredible job at misconstruing the fairness act and convincing the population that the fairness act sought to "silence" talk radio. In reality, what the fairness doctrine attempted to do was prevent mass conglumerates from buying up every station in town in order to prevent alternative views from being aired. In essence, the truth of the matter is that it is the right-wing that wants to silence any dissenting view on radio from their propoganda. Defeating the fairness doctrine allows them to buy up all the available stations and ensure that people who listen to talk radio only get one viewpoint.

In reality...it doesn't make a whole lot of difference, but most people who listen to talk-radio tend to be right-wingers, so the propoganda is just preaching to their choir. Most Americans don't bother listening to the garbage.
